i just want to convey again how much all of your support means. thank you again christie for the awsome website!
i found out last night via my middle sister that my mom plans on going to a faith healer in McCleary....McCleary for gosh sakes. sorry this townis wors po dunk than i claim my town to be. from the cemetary 2 blocks into town to the mill at the other end totals about 6-7 blocks, the mill takes up most of the town and the rest is dumpy little houses, oh and of course don't forget the jewlery store in town that if you buy 25 dollars worth of jewlery you get a free burger at the little delco next door. but hey you know what if that is going to help her deal with this then by all means i'll go with and throw holy hay on her myself.
in 19 months of ttc and being unsuccessful for so long i learned this....we don't make babies..God does, we don't decide when and if things are going to happen in our lives...God does, and if you rest in God and follow his path you will be much more relaxed and better off than if you worry and try to change what He has already planned.
learning HOW to rest in God is one of the hardest things i've ever had to do, and i think it is usually learned in the darkest of hours.

THANK YOU ALL again.

to help speed up labor: nipple stimulation & intercourse

Hmmmm, not sure what to suggest.  I've been told by someone they know a good massuese that has a history of sending women into labour within 24 hours of the massage.  But they are probaby up here in Ontario - not much use to you.
I'm actually off for a prenatal massage in a few minutes, can't wait.

Maybe it will happen this weekend for you! Good luck!

LOL!!!!!  I call my ankles "cankles" as well.  My feet are horrible and the right one is so sore.  I had my appt today and the nurse (because of course the dr got called out) said that the dr may actually talk about inducing me at 38 weeks which would be a week from Monday if the swelling does not go down which it has not even with elevation.  I think I would be ok with that.  I am ready.   I am having pain and discomfort a lot more now.  I am also exhausted due to not sleeping at night.  I was able to quit work on July 31 so I thought I would get some rest but I decided to be nice and help my sister with her baby so I have had a 3 1/2 now 4 month old in my home for the past month.  Thank God it is only a few hours a day except for today which is 8 hours.  I want a nap and she won't sleep.  My DD starts school next week so I am going to have to tell my sis I need a break as much as I hate to do it because that would mean she has to go with her dad who my sister is FINALLY divorcing YAY!!!!!  He is a no good piece of ca ca!!!!!!  He is into drugs again and I hate to see this precious baby with him but I really need some rest.   I am glad to hear all is going well with you.  I hope all goes well in labor and delivery and it is easy for you.  Have you decided on an epidural or not.  I know I am NOT doing that.  I am terrified of needles and let alone one going into my back.  I'll pass on that.  Demerol works wonders for me so I will do that again.   Well you take care and I hope to hear from you soon.   Take Care

Before trying anything, clear it with your doctor first. Especially nipple stimulation or accupressure. Contractions can be fast and furious with those, putting both you and baby in danger.

Trust me, if your little one isn't ready to come out yet he/she won't : )

I went 41 weeks 1 day, had been given cervadil, was maxed out on pitocin and was showing little change. We joked we was in there holding on to that cervix as tight as he could! As soon as his grip loosened, my water broke and he was out within minutes. But up until that point, he made it clear he wasn't ready to come out.

I don't get why everyone is in such a hurry to screw with nature. Let your little peanut cook a while longer, this is a sure thing, lol.

tres- thank you that is so sweet! that totally makes my day.

pregnant again-
the massage thing is true and any massage theropist will know what to do. if you go to a MT you have to tell them that you are pg so they steer clear of certain pressure points on your body. one of them is in your foot or ankle. any way massaging these spots can cause you to have contractions.
i have also heard there is a tea that the hispanic women swear by that will start contraction, but sorry i can't remember the name of it, i only know you can't find it in a regular store you have to go to a hispanic specialty store.
good luck oh and walking will also speed things up

angel-  Either drug, given too close to delivery time, can result in the baby not breathing effectively at birth.  Both drugs have their place, but they tend to be longer acting that either Nubain or Stadol.  They try not to give morphine to anyone in active labor, although it is used occasionally in early labor.
A pneumothorax is a well known complication of "bagging" a baby, and can happen to the best of doctors or nurses.

Blondie--it may well be that your area still uses it--it seems to be regional.  I would say it's been 4-5 years since I've used it, maybe longer.  The other drugs act in the same way, but tend to be shorter acting, which is good for labor.  You don't want a heavy duty drug hanging around for a long, long time.  Ask your doc if it is used in your hospital.  could be that it is.

Thanks for your kind words yesterday.  We had a rough night at work, and reading what you said really cheered me up.

You poor thing.  I know it is awful right at the end.  I think being so big and miserable at the end is is mother natures way of insuring we are ready for labor.  You think I don't care what it takes just get this baby out of me.  As Andi warned be careful of the nipple stimulation contractions can come on to fast.

I am not recommending this, but msklr (another forum member) used castor oil, I think like maybe a teaspoon and it worked for her.  However, later she said she wished she wouldn't have I can't remember exactly why she regretted taking it but I think it was because her labor was fast and furious.

Were you early with your other kids?

Avatar_n_tn
I will add my input on the castor oil, avoid it! If your little one isn't ready all you will get is a massive case of the poos! I was on babycenter's forum for my pregnancy and many women tried it and all were still pregnant for weeks following. If it does "work" it is usually due to the fact it was time anyway and is merely a coincidence : ) Giving yourself loose stools will only dehydrate you, which isn't good for you or the baby!

Thanks guys. I have tried...Sex, nipple stim, walking, bouncing on my birthing ball, spicy foods, jumping LOL, warm compresses on my breasts. I havent tried things like castor oil, or the teas and such because I am WORLDS PICKIEST eater and I am not willing to gag and puke cuz of  something nasty LOL.

I was in L&D a week ago (friday), I was 3cm, and like 80% effaced. I have never been that dilated without actual labor, so I was like WOW! I have an appt Monday morning given I dont pop over the weekend. My due date is Wednesday and the dr said if I make it till then he will induce. Today is HOT AS HELL, and I feel so crummy :c( I know I shouldnt be in a rush to meet him,as this is my last baby, but OMG I AM MISERABLE LOL.

I had my daughter 39w1d. My son(my 1st) was 3 days after my due date, but labor had started late in the evening on my due date.

I had no idea that most places had stopped using Demerol in L&D. After reading your response about the sedation of the newborn it makes me now think that my little one ended up with a double wammy at birth.
As you are probably aware, he wasn't breathing and when they bagged him they collapsed his lung causing a pneumothorax. We thought it was because of the morphine but now I'm thinking it could have been that or the Demerol OR both combined (I also got Phenergan, whatever that is). The OB doesn't say much when I ask anything about the delivery (he may not remember much) and the pedi that actually collapsed his lung (we still use him and love him by the way) says he can't be sure exactally what it was but that there were probably more than one contributing factor. He also tells us how horrible he feels everytime he sees us and that Talon is one baby he will never forget.

OMG!!!!!  You have got to be kidding me.  I was SO hoping for Demerol.  I had that with my DD but that was 6 yrs ago.  It knocked me out and I felt pretty relaxed for the whole thing.  Do the ones you mentioned have the same effect.  I take to medication quickly.  I know I had Demerol after my D&C for a little bit of pain just a while ago but it was for my m/c not for a baby.  I may have to talk to my dr about what is available now a days.  Thank you for letting me know about this.   Take Care I hope all is well with you.

I delivered 8 weeks ago and the hospital i went to said that at their facility they could only give an epidural.  They wouldn't do statol or any iv pain killers because of making the baby lethargic.  I'm scared of needles so needless to say i went all natural but i guess it's a good thing because my nephew born 12 weeks ago at the same hospital went into fetal distress from statol and it caused him to poop.  They did an emergency c-section.  he is ok now but had to be resusitated and was put on oxygen and iv's no one could even hold him until he was four days old.

Be aware that Demerol is no longer used for obstetrical pain relief in many (most) parts of the country.

There are shorter acting narcotics such as Nubain or Stadol that are used the majority of times.  The advantages of using these include less sedation of the newborn than you see with Demerol.

Well actually it did work for me, but I think he was ready anyhow, after all it was just two days before his due ddate that I tried a little. I drank it and two hours later I was in labor, BUT it was the longest labor (out of 3) that I had gone through. And my initial contractions were scary because they were so long.  I wouldnt drink it again, I think my labor would have been much better had I not, but I guess I will never know, because Ashton was also my biggest baby by more than a lb. He was 9 lb even.  My other two were 7 12oz and 6 9 oz. So size could have been a reason for such a long labor (13 hours). My second son was only 6 1/2.. Anyhow thats my .02 on that one...

Just look at it this way, you will DEFINITLY NOT be pregnant two weeks from now!

Good luck!!!
