GD

Okay so I have just been told that I have GD and I have to see a dietation on Monday, but I am so confused as what to eat until Monday. Everything I have read said to eat few carbs in the morning and eat them throughout the rest of the day. But I went to my doctors yesterday and they gave me a sheet (from 1993 might I add) that tells me to eat carbs for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It also says that cheese falls under the meat catogery not dairy. Example breakfast is 2 starchs, 1 fat, 1 fruit, and 1 milk. Which comes out to be 1 bagel, 1 tsp butter, 1 peach and a yogurt all which seem to have a high carb and sugar content. I am not sure what to do or what is right to eat until Monday, could someone please give me an example of what they had to eat? My doctor said that I need 2000 calories a day. Thank you Ladies!!!!!

well i failed the first glycose test and will be getting the 3hr one on monday morning.  I have researched a lot and found I am eating a lot of high carb foods.  I looked up glycemic index on the internet and found a lot of information.  I found out that all that watermelon i was eating is high on the charts!!!  I was also surprised to find out how many fruits were also high.  I am trying to be better before that test but I have been craving all this high carb stuff.  maybe get to a book store and check out the gi diet.  good luck.

I had gd and had to rescrict most foods I ate no takeaways no chocolate all the bad foods that you crave. Foods that are less than 10gr of sugar and 10gr of fat per 100grs are the best less than 5gr is even better there is usually a chart of the back of the food with the content table. Also if you eat fruit the rule is if its fits in the palm of your hand its ok bigger than that and your sugar levels usually rise. Grainy breads and crackers are good. I found having a roast and snitzel meals with veges didnt raise my levels but I guess you soon figure out what foods but your levels up. I controlled mine by diet but found near the end of the pregnancy it was harder to control and was going to be put on insulin but got induced instead. Your dietition will help you out at least it can be controlled by diet or insulin and usually disapears after the baby is born good luck.

I just got done having a baby and had GC. I ate a bowl of cereal in the morning (Rice Krispies usually worked best) Then a sandwich for lunch with a few chips and then a normal dinner with small portions. For snacks between the meals I ate cashews or peanuts and once in awhile 2 cookies or something like that. I didn't drink anything with sugar. I drank water, milk, or diet soda.

When I ate that my blood sugar was fine everytime.
