Gender predictions by Ultra sound - tell me ur experiences

Hey Ladies (And men if any heehee)

i have a ultra sound check up today. Am 21 wks 5 days and I've had three US scans so far that say boy. One at 12wks, another at 14 wks an anthoer at 18wks. Here we go for antenatal check ups every 4 wks and each visit includes a US Scan. I ran into a friend the other day who through her pregnancy up until 32 wks she was having a boy only to find out it was a girl? How many of you had this experience? how often did u get US Scans b4 u found out it was a different gender from what they previously said. And how many of you thought through ur whole pregnancy it was a boy/girl only to find it was a diferernt gender a birth!!!!??? LOL  i've already bought blue clothing for this baby and since running into my friend at lunch yesterday, am like OMG. suppose it's really a girl. Which is what i previously wanted but am happy either way! sorry so long lol.

First of all, congratulations!!!  With DS, he was determined a boy at 12 weeks.  With DD, she was determined a girl at 15 weeks.  Both were accurate.  It all depends the skill of the tech performing the ultrasound.  If you are getting that many ultrasounds, it should be pretty accurate.

I don't think it happens very often. I was told at 12, 15 and 18 weeks and then again at 28 weeks for 4D that I was having a boy. He is now 4 months old and still a boy (: You hear of things like this happening but it is rare.

They've always been accurate for me.

Ok good! lol here on the Island, the Gynae is the one who's doing the US Scan, so we dont see a tech or midwife first then Gynae, its str8 to Gynae. Which makes me more comfortable as you would assume a Gynae has more skill then a tech or midwife right?! His US machine is pretty clear too. he's showed me the penis and lil nutts lol but i was still a lil concerned! if it turned out to be girl i would be ecstatic but am happy for my boys either way! glad to know its not that common though!

I have one of each and could not be more pleased.  They are so different and they just feed off of each other's energy.  Bryce is 4 and Londyn is 9 months.  The bond of siblings is a beautiful sight to see regardless of the sex.

i was told at 14, 17, and 20 weeks that im having a boy. the first 2 was with a 4d u/s, and the last one was at my level 2 u/s. both techs seemed very sure, not to mention his "family jewels" were very clear in photos, and the 4d video. i would really hope that those type of errors are rare.

Well i had my scan on friday, we did a full US. He checked his brain, heart, stomach, measured his bones, head circumfrence and stomach circumfrence. I was 21 weeks 5 days going by LMP but over all measurements by US give 20 weeks 5 days..maybe a ovulated a week later??

Oh well, over all, baby is very energetic, and healthy so far, no cord around the neck, four heart chambers, 10 fingers, 10 toes lol. AND.... it is definetly a boy, we saw the lil penis again and doctor says he is 105% sure! We have it all on DVD too! I cant wait to welcome Jayden Alexander(Who i've grown to call JayJay!)  next March.

Thanks for your comments ladies.

I did not want to find out so I didn't but I have many family and friends who did and almost all of them were right.  However, I do have a cousin and a friend who were both pregnant at teh same time.  Both told they were having a girl and both had boys.  It was strange because it was the first time I heard of it being wrong and they were born a month apart in two different cities.  It is more common to say girl and baby end up a boy then to say boy and baby end up a girl.  If I would have found out I would not have been confident if they told me girl.  I would have been if they told me boy.

BTW - those two boys are now 2 years old and their rooms have since been painted blue and all the pink has been donated.  :)
