Genetic testing?

by leigh82, Jan 28, 2007 12:00AM
TTC #1, 3m/c in 06.  I do however get pg with one try each time.  I feel totally alienated.  There is no one that I know who has gone through this.  To top it all off, my 3 best friends all got pg this year, no problems.  I have had people tell me not to tell them until I am at least 12 weeks pregnant!  Even my DH doesn't want to know until we go for 1st ultrasound. (insert scream here)

I just want to be normal!  take an HPT and then go on without any anxiety next time.  Well, we all know that's not possible.  My Dr. assumes they were all abnormal chromsomes, one confirmed after d&c.  one m/c at 5.5 weeks, one missed miscarriage at 8wks, and a chemical pg that I didn't even realize til after.  My 2nd was a trisomy 6.

Has anyone ever experience m/c this many times from abnormal chromosomes?  It's usually an isolated incident from what I read, and believe me I've read, know all the statistics.

Do you think we should have the DNA, genetic testing on DH and I?  It is just very expensive or should we just keep trying.  I'm very close to having all that I can take.  Just trying to keep faith, He has a plan, I know

I am so sorry to hear how many times this has happened. I mc early this month, they did genetic tests and all was ok. My ob said (b4 results were back)if was genetic and happens again, dh & I may need to get tested. Sometimes his/her chromosomes wont work together. I don't know the process or if it is repairable, IF that is your situation. I hope that the next one will be the one for you. I am very sorry for your losses.

Hi, Ive only had one miscarriage and it was devastating. I cant imagine three. dh and i have been trying for #1 fir almost four years. My dear friend has had 7 miscarriages and 2  births. She was diagnosed with factor V disorder. It is a clotting disorder. I would talk to your Dr about getting blood test for MTHR and Factor V.  maybe if you go on heparin or lovenox, I think thats right, then that will help. I will pray for you and your Husband. Me and dh are starting our first IVF this month. We have trouble getting pregnant. I used to pray that God would never let me get pregnant to lose it. I thought I wouldnt be able to handle it. Well I did get pregnant after IUI, then m/c at 6weeks. So I guess we are stronger than we can even imagine.

I do have MTHFR.  However, Dr. doesn't think that is the cause do to how early it is.  THANK YOU SO MUCH for praying for me though.  That's the best medicine there is.  DH and I are going to try again this month?  when is your IVF.  I should ovulate on the 15 next month!  Need a cycle.
