Glucose Test

Well, my Dr called Friday and informed me that I  failed my glucose test last week and now have to take a 3 hour test.  I'm concerned because my mother, 58, was just diagnosed with diabetes.  She did not have it while she was pregnant.  But, I also understand there are alot of people who fail the inital test and end up fine.

Can anyone share similar stories and your outcome.  I'm trying to brace myself and put my mind at ease.

BABOOOOO, I have also heard a lot fail the first :(  Sorry I don't know much about this, just wanted to say HELLOO!!!

i too "failed" the first time and had to sit thro that gosh aweful 3 hour test at the hospital! i know alot of women who have failed the first time, but came out ok the second. maybe thats why they have the second/more accurate test? Think of it this way- even if it does turn out positive, at least you will get the help you need...best of luck girl!

Luckily i didnt fail tho i was sure i would, did you eat anything before your frst test? i heard you shouldnt but then i also heard it was ok too. I just ate a potatoe bread and only water and i mine was fine. Eat things very low in sugar and you will prob be fine.

i was told to fast after 12.

I also failed the first one and passed the second, I think the first one is so sensitive it has a high percentage of failure. Try not to stress too much

When is this test usually done?  How many weeks?

if i remember right mine was at 28 weeks, but i could be wrong on that its been about 3 years.

Hey girly, 8w5d here, Only terrible headaches, I don't have another us scheduled for any time soon. I guess he was satisfied with the 7 week one? Oh, well. I can't wait to break out my doppler, then I can check for myself. I'm living on cookies & smoothies & Sweets, I oughtta fail the glucose for sure, ha ha ha. Have you heard from jaces??

with my last pregnancy I failed the 1 hour and had to do the 3 hour...  I passed the 3 hour-  but my DD was born 4 weeks early at 7lbs 5 ozs and had low blood sugar,  which can be a sign on GD,  but they told me I passed the 3 hour-  I do my 1 hour test for this pregnancy next week...  guess I'll see what happens this time...  

brace yourself,  that 3 hour test is tough...  not the worst thing in the world,  but take something to eat for RIGHT when you finish,  I was so dizzy by the time I was done and shaking...  if you have something you can eat it right when you finish,  that is what I will do this time if I have to do the 3 hour again!
