Good news! and question on Advair

After 2 miscarriages (5 and 7 wks) in February and April, I finally got to the U/S stage with this one and they found a big old baby with a hb of 162 and all the right dimensions!!! Could have knocked me over with a feather!  I have been reading the list all along but too depressed to post all summer--just reading it though helped me with processing all the things DH had already moved on with (or never had?).  What I did different? I went on this natural progesterone cream, topical (Quantum Gesterone it was called) and drank lots of water (my gallbladder was kicking up).Who knows if that helped?  I went on vacation (which helped with conception I guess). It feels different, steady but lowkey symptoms...not so "sick" (last time I had horrible morning sickness and now I just have mild but off and on morning sickness). Being as how I am 43 y.o. I thought this might give hope to people who are thinking of giving up; I know I was (this was my last try, too draining, too old, too depressing, too stressful on the marriage, etc.) My only question now is, has anyone taken ADVAIR the whole pregnancy? I have horrible asthma if I don't take it at least once a day. It's a Code "C" but the only Code "B" one doesn't work (it's a weaker steroid). Dr. says it's better to have oxygen but I am worried! Also, has anyone had that transnuchal translucency test at 11 wks?  Thanks!

I posted once but it must not have took...anyways...congrats on your pregnancy.
I would say that C is better than having a category D or X.  Category C is:
Either studies in animals have revealed adverse effects on the fetus (teratogenic or embryocidal or other) and there are no controlled studies in women, or studies in women and animals are not available. Drugs should be given only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.
Im sure your Dr thinks that this drug is a potential benefit for you over the risks it causes.  You could always get a second opinion if it really worries you.  But I work in a pharamcy and have a patient that is pregnant and is also taking a category C substance...Lamictal.  I think Drs tend to want you to take drugs that are A or B categories but C dont really tend to cause risks to the fetus like D and X do.
I wish you the best in your 9 months...hope you have a healthy pregnancy!!

I took advair for several years, including the whole pg with my daughter, and while I was nursing her. Neither of us had any problems from it.

That's good to hear. I am starting to think they just don't test the meds in case they're going to get a bad statistic and then have to code it "D" or worse (so they'd rather go with the "C" -- we don't really know, up to you). I do know I can't breathe without the Advair and I hate to think of the little panda (that's what he looks like on the u/s) struggling for oxygen before he even gets big enough to breathe!
