HCG, Progesterone and Ultrasound

by Zacksmom, Feb 21, 2005 12:00AM
At 16 dpo I had an HCG of 338, 2 days later it rose to 779.  My progestrone level was 30.4.  I am scheduled for an ultrasound on 2-28-05.  The reason for the tests is I reported brown spotting on my first prenatal visit.  It has since stopped, lasted only 3-4 days.  The doctor felt it was implantation bleeding.  My question are, do these numbers sound okay and is the ultrasound too early to see anything?  I will be about 6wks 2 days from LMP.  Thanks!!

I think most u/s want you to be at least 6 weeks, of course, the longer the better but dont be suprised if they cant see too much,
If the bleeding has stopped it could have been implantation,
I never kept track of all that hcg level stuff, just went by u/s  and the doctors advice I think sometimes we can stress our selves out by numbers, what the books tell us We are all different and so is each pregnancy
Try to enjoy being pregnant, and relax
Good Luck

I'm not sure about the progesterone (I know you dont want it to be really low;like single digits)because they never tested that on me, so I never had occasion to look it up. The Hcg numbers sound just fine, they should roughly double every 48 hours. I think early on the actual number doesn't matter as much as the fact that it it rising at a good rate. At my 6 week u/s they only saw a gestational sack (no fetal pole or heartbeat yet), so I wouldn't worry if you dont see much. Congratulations!

A friend of mine had brown bleeding with clots and everything turned up being okay.  It sounds like your doctor thinks everything is okay, so I would think that is good news.  Here is a site that has some good stories that might encourage you in the meantime.  There also is some good reading in the research section that may help you.  I wish you well!
