HCG LEVELS

HCG LEVELS

So, I had a miscarriage a couple of months ago.  I found out last Tuesday I was pregnant, which was really exciting.  I went in for the HCG tests and got the results today.  Friday, I was around 13700.  My results from yesterday are over 21000 (I'm 6 weeks today).  Since it didn't exactly double (I was 5000 short), they want to do an u/s Thursday.  I'm really not too concerned, but wanted some other's opinions.  Does it HAVE to double to be fine?

I know what this is like-waiting for the results of your levels...i looked it up for you...
I hope everything works out for you!

Guideline to hCG levels during pregnancy:

hCG levels in weeks from LMP (gestational age)* :

    * 3 weeks LMP: 5 - 50 mIU/ml
    * 4 weeks LMP: 5 - 426 mIU/ml
    * 5 weeks LMP: 18 - 7,340 mIU/ml
    * 6 weeks LMP: 1,080 - 56,500 mIU/ml
    * 7 - 8 weeks LMP: 7, 650 - 229,000 mIU/ml
    * 9 - 12 weeks LMP: 25,700 - 288,000 mIU/ml
    * 13 - 16 weeks LMP: 13,300 - 254,000 mIU/ml
    * 17 - 24 weeks LMP: 4,060 - 165,400 mIU/ml
    * 25 - 40 weeks LMP: 3,640 - 117,000 mIU/ml
    * Non-pregnant females: <5.0 mIU/ml
    * Postmenopausal females: <9.5 mIU/ml

* These numbers are just a GUIDELINE-- every woman’s level of hCG can rise differently. It is not necessarily the level that matters but rather the change in the level.

So, if I'm in the range, I shouldn't worry that it didn't quite double?

There is an answer to your same question on the doctor's fertility forum.  Look at 09/05-the question says "Beta rising but not doubling."  The answer basically says that you don't have to double in order for you to have a successful pregnancy.  They like to see it go up at least 67%.  He explained it pretty well.  Good luck!  I just got my BFP last week.  I am 5 weeks tomorrow.

When I was about 5 weeks pregnant and my hcg level was around 11000. After that, although the hcg level kept going up, it was never doubled. I was always a few thousand short. I'm 14 weeks pregnant now and everything seems fine and my OB is happy with the baby's progress. Good luck! You should be fine.
