HCG Levels out of wack - totally confused

HCG Levels out of wack - totally confused

I really feel like I am so messed up.  Let me start from the beginning.  I had my first miscairraige in Feb of this year due to a blighted ovum.  I was 6 wks preg from my last period but my HCG only showed be at <2wks. My last period was on April 25. I had a neg preg test on May 18 but then a defiante pos on May 28. I went to the dr. on May 30 and had an HCG & Prog ran.  My HCG was 1626 and my progesterone was 8.5.  I was put on prog supliments immediately.  I then had another hcg ran on june 1 and my hcg increased to 3085. On June 2 another hcg was ran and it went down to 2438.  On june 5 I had another hcg and it was 4835. I had an U/S done to rule out ectopic and it was verified that I had an interuterine preg with my gestational sac measuring 8.1mm but no yolk sak or fetal pole.  I also showed I had a retroverted uterus.  I am so confused and all my dr's will tell me is to expect a miscairraige.  They even have a D & C scheduled for this tuesday.  I had another hcg ran today but wont find out the results until tomorrow and a U/S scheduled for monday before my D & c.  I am on pins and needles.  I don't know whats going on.  Please help.

here is a great link that helps me out with figuring timing on the developement of a fetus.

http://www.americanpregnancy.org/pregnancycomplications/earlyfetaldevelopment.htm

According to their timeline, if no pole or sac is seen at 6 weeks another scan should be done in 3-7 days.  It seems kind of early to me to schedule a d&c just yet.

Hang in there

I think its really soon to schedule a D&C too. Your dates could be off, you never know. Until you can confirm when the pregnancy started, I wouldn't let a doctor talk you into a D&C just because he saw a sac at 5 1/2 weeks or even 6 weeks. I'm sorry for your loss. I had a "blight ovum" a year ago, but didn't find out anything was wrong until 12 weeks.  Now I am pregnant again (20 weeks now) but I actually ovulated 2 weeks later than normal, and I am always pretty regular noramlly so I'm not sure what happened that week. My first u/s we thought I was 7 weeks, but only saw a sac. I'm so glad I had a doc that didn't give up so early. I had hcg tests that came back good and then had an u/s again a week or so later and saw a little heartbeat. If your doc keeps pushing for the early d&c's, you may just want to get a 2nd opinion from another doctor too. It really is worth the stress of waiting a week or two to make sure that your dates weren't off or something. My best wishes to you. I hope it turns out to be ok.

Thanks for you comments everyone.  I know it is not a good sign for your hcg levels to be under 6000 and it not double every 48 hours.  I just think it is strange that it doubled then droup 600 points then doubled again.  I'll let you know my new levels as soon as I get them tomorrow.
