HCG level low PLEASE Help!

HCG level low PLEASE Help!

hi Iam new to this site it seems great!! I was just wondering if you could help me. My LMP was Sept 25,05 and did IUI on Oct 8 and 9, did pregnancy test in Oct 22 it was neg, on oct 26 another pregnance test it was positive! so I went and had a blood test done and the Doctor, will his nurse said that the levels were very low they were at 29 hcg, and to retest on Oct 28, and they told me to be prepared to miscarry within the week!I asked what my levels should be at and the nurse said 300-400, the hcg level for the 28th came back at 53. I thought that the Hcg should double in about 72 hours?? and mine did. The nurse said to call when I start to bleed, I told her I had, and still have no cramping or bleeding or anything like that she you dont have to, I do feel pregnant, as we already have two girls 5 years and 6 months so I know what it feels like.... can anyone give me some help on this PLEASE I have never misscarried before!

thanks!

When someone is in very early in pg (such as you getting a postive hpt only a few days ago), then miscarrying this early would be just like a period for you.  There wouldn't be a lot of pain or clots.

Are you bleeding now??  How much - enough to soak a pad??  What color - brown, red, pink??  Is it similar to a normal period??

The only thing you can do, and SHOULD do, is keep going in for blood tests every few days to either confirm that the numbers are rising appropriately or that the hcg has completely returned to zero.

I'm sorry you're going through this, I'm sure it's almost unbearable.  Keep us posted.

I wouldn't be concerned over the actual number, but to be honest, it should have doubled in 48 hours. It is rare to have a number not double in 2 days and have it still be a viable pregnancy. I had the same thing happen to me last year and I was angry that the doctor and nurses seemed so negative and SURE that I would miscarry.....but I did. I hope that is not the case for you. Good luck and keep up posted!

I totall understand where your coming from. I was supposed to be about 8 weeks, but the blood work only showed me at 2 weeks. I mis carried the 6 of October, I didnt need any DNC or anything. It was like a period, but I had a l ittle bit of a clot, and a little cramping. Its a horrible thing to happen to you, and its really confussing when you already have beautiful healty babies. (( My daughter just turned on on 10/28/2005. ))

My sister went in to get hcg test done 14 days after she supposedly ovulated and her hcg was 11. It did not look good for her at all the next few weeks as her numbers were extremely low and not doubling. She just delivered a 9 lb baby boy last week.

I had a similar experience in May. I started out with an HCG of 24, 14 days after ovulation. I should have been at 100. My numbers slowly increased, probably doubling every 3 to 4 days. I had repeated ultrasounds at 6, 7, and 8 weeks that showed a yolk sac and no more. By 7 weeks, you should see a heartbeat. I had done IVF so I was sure of the dates.
I ended up having a D&C at 9 weeks. I guess my body wasn't willing to give up my baby even though there wasn't a real chance of survival. Anyway, it honestly would have been easier if I had miscarried right away instead of waiting and hoping for 6 weeks. I hope your experience is a better one, keep hope, doctors don't know everything. It is so hard, so draining. Let us know how you are.

I miscarried on 10/23 and I had no cramping no nothing.  I started to spot and than it got heavyer but it wasnt heaver than my AF.  I never throughout the whole time had any cramping or anything.  I was 6 wks along.  All that was different was that I was clotting more and that was it.  Like my AF it was gone in less than 5 days.  Sorry your going through this.

I am just as confused about this whole numbers game. This is our 1st pregnancy (I will be 8 wks tmrw) and I started spotting lightly (brown blood) on 10/26. Called the OB & she said this is normal, could be leftover blood from implantation, stay off my feet, no stress, etc. Well, it stopped. Everything was fine until Sat afternoon 10/29 when I went to the bathroom & noticed spotting again, this time pinkish red... I freaked out & call the DR again & they said to stay off my feet, call back if any bad cramping, heavier bleeding, etc. Well, the spotting faded to brown & went away (never got heavier, only one time red and only when I wiped). I have not spotted since then. I also have no cramps or pain or anything. Well, Mon my OB called & wanted me to get blood work done so we "could see where things stand". Got it back & my HCG is 2480. She called yesterday & said that was a little low, should be in the 5-6000 range, also my prog was only 7.7 & should be 9 or higher. Prescribed prog supp (100 mg) which I started last night. Have to go back today for more blood work to see if levels are doubling. She said my numbers definitely should be doubled from Monday. I have my u/s Fri morning. So basically I have been scouring the internet for ANY information on low HCG, low Prog, and am finding that you can really only base the info on your u/s. Does this sound right? I am trying not to panic about losing my baby... my husband refuses to believe these "numbers" and won't even think about something wrong until we see the u/s. I am praying like I have never prayed in my LIFE. The thing is, I feel fine, no bleeding, no cramping... still have sore breasts, peeing all the time, other signs of pregnancy... I'm just not sure what to think at this point & I'm scared to death to go get my blood work done again! Could someone please reassure me???

well hi again, I miscarried last night well started bleeding, but not to much cramping till late last night when the bleeding started its not that bad just a little worse the my period, which is good. This whole thing really sucks but I have talked to alot of people and they have said a miscarriage is a "blessing in disgise" because its your body saying that there is something wrong with the pregnance, and if it did go through, you wouldn't want something other then a healthy baby, so things will get better in a few days or a week, and in the next couple of months we will try again! Thank you to everyone who gave me some insite to this hard situation, and good luck to everyone else & I hope things work out the way they should...

Cheers!!!!!!!!!!!

keli21-I'm glad your ordeal is over and you can relax now, but one thing I would like for you to consider:  a first miscarriage may be a blessing in disguise to some, but for those of us who have had 3+ and no living children, the blessing would be to actually have a baby-perfect in every way or not so perfect.  You are in no way wrong in your comment but some moms , like me, are saddened by some things people say.  To comment back is my own way of coping-please don't be mad :)Take Care of Yourself!

I'm on my second pregnancy. I have a son who will turn one on the 23rd of this month. (We're busy, I know) Anyways, I didn't know a darn thing about hcg levels until this pregnancy when they didn't seem to be rising properly. My OB actually called my home to tell me that things weren't looking good. He told me that my levels weren't doubling every 72 hours like they should have been. And that we would do one more test. If that didn't show well then we had our answer. I was devastated. He told me that my levels needed to be at 9,000 with the next bloodwork. The nurse called me the next day to tell me that my levels were at 10,919. The levels were so low because I was so early in my pregnancy. I was like 4 weeks. He ordered an ultrasound and then a repeat u/s 10 days later. Now I'm 11 weeks to the day and I'm on my way to having a healthy baby in late May. All I can say is don't ignore your doctor's worries, but fight them with positive thinking and lots of prayer.

Having had 3 miscarriages so far, it is easy to get hung up on the numbers but honestly, everyone is different.  read the one posting that I'm in awe about a little ways up-having low levels the whole way then delivering a nine pounder-that is awesome!!!!  I am pregnant for the 4th time, have no surviving kids.  I just found out and they gave me my first progesterone inj. Friday.  I have to get 1 in each hip 2x a week.  So far my HCG level was good-@ 4 1/2weeks I was at 3700.  See even I am stuck on numbers.  It is good to know that you're levels are acceptable, I agree, but we should say over and over to ourselves "we are all different-every pregnancy is different."  besides, have you actually paid attention to how the levels of hcg overlap, and how each week has a wide range of acceptable levels?  I wish you luck-please wish me luck to-from Ohio to Ohio

Hello everyone ! I was just diagnose with low level of hcg, i don't know the number but they were low, my doctor said that I was maybe starting to miscarry. I cried, I had 2 miscarriage before. She did an ultrasound and baby looked great, 158 heart beat, no signs of miscarrying so far. Best of luck to all and tones of hugs, I am also due in May 06, I am 11 weeks and 1 day and doctor thinks we are having a boy per the ultrasound this morning she thinks she saw a penis, who knows ? As long as it's healthy and growing that is all I care about. Good Luck everyone !

Hello hopeinohio

I am playing the numbers game as you are and scouring the internet and obsessing too!  My numbers were 3475 to 5004, not as they should be so the doctor is concerned.  I had a m/c on 9/23 and am immediately pg again - without trying!  I have one 4 year old son with no problems during that pregnancy.  I have an u/s tomorrow and depending on hat they see (or don't see) more bloodwork.  I am praying to see a fetus and heartbeat tomorrow.  I have had no bleeding or cramping, but did not prior to the m/c either.  The waiting game is on...good luck to you.
