I'm not an expert on this subject as I have only learned about HCG levels last month. (Due to my miscarriage) From what I have read your HCG levels are supposed to double every 24-48 hours. Also alot of women on here have experienced bleeding during there pregnancy and gone to deliver healthy babies. I would definatley demand that your doctors tell you something becuase you dont need the added stress of not knowing what is going on with your body.
I'm not a doctor but I went through kinda the same thing. I was bleeding and they didn't see anything either. There was a sac however. I had a Blighted Ovum, which is where the sac grows and hcg levels go up and there is no baby. When I started to bleed my levels increased even though I was told I was going to m/c. My levels jumped on the day I had the m/c. It sounds that you sisuation is a little different. I am sure that others will post under me.
I am so sorry that you're going through this. You sound like you need a new doctor. I am going to my third OB/GYN in a year in a couple of weeks. We deserve to have doctors that are informative and compasionate which is why I will continue to switch doctors until I find the perfect fit. I hope you find out what is going on soon! Best of luck to you.
i'm sorry you're going through this. in my opinion i think you should go see another dr. and get another opinion. i can't imagine why you're numbers keep rising and you're bleeding and they're not seeing anything. i would also think that 5 weeks of bleeding is quite a lot and you should see a dr. anyway. usually they take hcg levels about 2-3 days apart in the beginning and if they're taking it every day it's hard to see if doubling, but from the numbers i see it does seem like they're rising at normal rates, but then again this is only from what i'm reading on here. when was the last time you saw the dr.?
I saw the doctor whos an idiot on june 22 right before I came here no levels ect were done then he just said I'd had a missed abortion said my last numbers were dropping (umm 1200 to 1600 ) thats dropping? When I pointed out he was wrong they were increasing he said oh thats strange but dismissed it. See why I wasnt a diffrent doctor. HE also inssited I was about 6 weeks when I first had an appointment (which I only made cause I was leaving and thought it would be the resposnible thing) and that I'd concieved around the 17th impossible my husband wasn't around then. and that he should have seen something. But now I'm reading that if my HCG levels were just in the 40-600 nothing would show and I was maybe 4 weeks not 6. He rode me off from that moment on. I just want some snswers.

Yes, I would definatley go see another doctor. It sounds to me that he doesnt really know what he is talking about, or just doesnt care. Go get a second opinion and be sure to ask every question you can think of.
I went to my regular family practice doctor and he did a pregnancy test and an HCG level on me. (my OB couldnt see me for 3 days after that) and when the results came back the nurse told me my levels were only 19.7?!? Putting me at about 1 week pregnant. And told me to have another HCG done in a week. (Ok.) So i was excited and just determined that i had concieved right before I was supposed to start my period. The same day I started lighty spotting and I called my OB, she ordered another HCG the next day and that confirmed that my levels had dropped completley and I was having a miscarriage. So if I wouldnt have called and got that second opinion I may have believed that I was still pregnant and just having some spotting and then a week later found out that I miscarried.
So the whole point of this speal is to tell you to definatley get a second opinion and ask questions until you feel like you have a good understanding of what is going on.
i would say make the earliest appointment you can to see a new dr. you got a complete runaround which besides for being completely unprofessional and inconsiderate it was just plain rude!! when are you going to be back home so you can see a dr.? or is there anyone you can see where you are? i really think it's important to go right away.
I'm kind of confused by your dates and when you have had the Hcg tests. If you are indeed 10 weeks pregnant, then your hcg is actually extremely low to just be about 2,000, you should be able to see a little baby by then. Do you know for sure the conception date? Sometimes I also go by the first date that I got a BFP and take that as 4 weeks (if my cycle was weird that month and I don't know when I O'c etc).
It does sound like your doctor is not helping the situation, definitely find someone else. It doesn't sound like he even wants to help, he's just convinced that you m/c and that it. Go to another doctor and tell them all of your dates, have them do another set of Hcg tests and an u/s.
You wouldn't see anything on the ultrasound really at those low levels anyway. My ob won't even look at a person until their HCG is above 5,000. I think the earliest they can really see anything is when the hcg reaches 2000.
Jenny those numbers were taken several weeks ago I was only about 4-5 weeks pregant then. I'm sure of the conception dates my husband was out of town till the 23 so I know then was no way I concieved before then.
Just an FYi Hcg levels were invented to torment all pregnant women and I believe so were ultrasounds done before 8 weeks. I was told often NOTHING is seen befor 8 weeks. So don't worry. Also Hcg levels vary and defferent docs give out different scales of Hcg level comparisons. If your levels are going up that is most important. I hear they should double every 3 days not 2. Some baby's are also slow to start but then catch up quickly. Also in general most OBs are always off by 2 weeks on how far along we are which only serves to create panic in us. I.E. they say we are 6 weeks when we are only 4 and nothing may be seen until 8. Meanwhile they tell women they are going to m/c and srart all this panic. Lastly, if we don't like our OB or do not get enough info please switch. Liz :) ps m/c 2 weeks ago at 7weeks with dropping hcg's but had heartbeat and doc gave me pics.
Hi,my LMP was on 3rd june.got a positive pregnancy result two days back ( after missing an entire cycle of period)..got a USG done immed which showed no gestational sac either in the uterus or outside it...had a beta hcg test done today which showed a result of 605 .that means about 5 weeks of pregnancy...had two doubts..my egg had ruptured ( was monitoring my ovulation cycle) on the 19th of june..how could i get then conceive in the 1st week of july ? if i had conceived in july ..should i not be seeing a sac by now ? Pls help..my docs are not able to give me a logical explanation..i was thinking it might be an ectopic pregnancy...have any of you heard of something like this before ???
Good luck, and Sticky Baby Dust to you.
