HCG not doubling-- early US no Heartbeat

by lynb, Sep 11, 2006 12:00AM
I had a little bleeding and slight cramping at 5w4d. Ultrasound showed fetal pole and yolk, but no heartbeat. Doc said yes it was early, but b/c of the size of the embryo, he expected to see a heartbeat. My hcg on Thrusday p.m. was 2186. Saturday a.m. it was 3224. Certainly didn't double, but the blood was taken 42 hours apart. Everything I read says the number should double in 48-72 hours. I have another US this Thursday. Praying for HB.
Also--the bleeding has stopped, but I have had a bit of dark matter on the tissue when I wipe. I feel like I am losing this baby! Anyone been through any or all of this and ended up with a healthy baby?

So glad to hear it...that makes me feel so much better. I talked to the nurse after I posted my original comment and she seemed happy with the hcg results.
