HCG not doubling

Hi,
I am new to the community. After over a year of TTC, I sought out treatment. There I was diagnosed with PCOS and low estergen. They prescribed me 5 days of Clomid and an HSG shot. 2 weeks later I took a pregnancy test and got a positive. I rushed to the clinic for a blood test and it came back with a HCG level of 157. The nurse told me this number was high. I was so excited I told some family and friends. 5 days later (yesterday), I went back for another blood test. My numbers are now at 268. The nurse told me that this was most likely a chemical pregnancy. I was devastated and left work in tears. I am supposed to go back to the clinic again on Friday for another blood test. I don't know what to think and am sad at the thought of losing this pregnancy. Has anyone heard of this happening before and the pregnancy still being normal? Are there risks if the pregnancy still takes that the baby may have something wrong? I am making myself crazy trying to find the answers. Friday seems moons away.

Its so hard waiting.  Unfortunately, that's all there is to do right now.  We have some ladies who have had HCG's that don't quite double in 2-3 days and have gone on to have normal pregnancies, if that is of any comfort to you.  

Your situation is a bit more uncomfortable, as in 5 days it did not double.  This is not proof positive of anything right now, though.   Its hard not to be upset, but try to be calm and wait until Friday's blood test.  It will help clarify things.
