I have had ver light brown spottingVaginal bleeding between periods for about the last week. I went in for an ultrasound on monday 7/3. The tech said I was measuring just at 6 wks. They couldn't see the heartbeatHeart palpitations Ultrasound, normal fetus - heartbeat Ultrasound, ventricular septal defect - heartbeat yet but she said it was probably too early to see anything regardless of what was happening. I had HCG done 7/3 it was 21,150. Then again 7/5 it was 26,680. Should these numbers still be doubling (in 48 hrs)or are they already so high that they are going to take a bit longer? I have read that at 6000+ the doubling time increases but by how long? I hate the waiting. I am scheduled for another u/s on Monday.
I really don't know much about that, but I just want to tell you that I wish you luck!!! At some point they are supposed to stop doubling, but I'm not sure when. However, if you scroll down, you might find some info, because I remeber somebody put a table about that. Baby dust to you!
The reference I checked says they should doubleDouble-tussin dm in "anywhere more than 96 hours" at that level, and yours are doubling in about 140 hours. Don't think that is worth stressing, as they do slow down as the numbers get bigger. So sorry about the waiting!!! Good luck!
Your post gives me hope today. I went in for my (supposedly six week) ultrasound today expecting to see something in the sac with a heartbeatHeart palpitations Ultrasound, normal fetus - heartbeat Ultrasound, ventricular septal defect - heartbeat, and there was nothing there at all. The dr. said the sac had grown though. The dr. didn't sound hopeful, but she said perhaps it is just too early or that it could be a blighted ovum. The problem is that, unless I have been having sleep sex, I could not be as early as she is thinking to see nothing in the sac (my prediction is around eight weeks based upon my weird periods and activity). So far my HcG levels have been looking good except for the first couple of times. They took my levels today, but I did not hear back.
I had gotten so excited about having this unexpected "blessing" baby (even at age 41)- I am just devastated. Anyway, I am staying off diet coke and alcohol for another week just in case... I still feel pregnant, and I have had no cramping or bleeding!!! For those of you that have to struggle with this kind of thing....I have a new level of compassion and respect for you.
I'm sorry you have to go through this, I know it's hard. At six weeks is too early too see a heart beat, so don't get desperate. You never know. I had a great heart beat and everything looked perfect, but I m/c a day later. That shouldn't scare anybody, but that early in the pregnancy everything is inpredictable. I wish you lots of luck and hopefully everything will be going great for you (((HUGS)))
These doctors just worry us silly. It should be a crime. Typically a heatbeat is not seen until 6-7 weeks. Also I have noticed and heard many women say that the doctor is usually off by 1-2 weeks. They always think we are much further along than we know we are.
Your Hcg levels are great. I was 6wks 3days at 1900 then decreased and m/c last week. I am sending some baby sticky dust.
Hello everyone, I'm trying to understand my HCG levels too. I m/c in March and got a BFP on Tuesday. I had blood drawn yesterday and my level is 850. I would be approx 4 weeks. Is that a good # or should it be higher. When I m/c my level was 186 then 234 then started going down. I go tomorrow for the next blood test. Any reassurance would be great.
UPDATE** Just wanted to give an update. The nurse called me to ask me to come in for an ultrasound today since my numbers didn't go up as much as they would like. I was so nervous and preparing myself for the worse and they actually found the babies heartbeating. It is amazing what a difference four days can actually make. The doctor seems to think it may be irritation in my uterus that is causing the bleeding but did stress that we're not out of the woods completely yet. She did put me on progesterone as well since my level was on the lower normal side. so, I have another ultrasound in two weeks. I am sure I will still be nervous wreck until then.
Well - here's my update. My HcG levels have risen. They were at 2,322 on June 26. They were at 15,376 on July 6. She also said my progesterone (?sp) was low.
I was expecting after my last visit and seeing an empty sac again, that my levels would go down. Do they not start going down until miscarriage actually starts?
I go in again next Thursday (for the third time) to see if there is anything in the sac. I don't really know what to think.
