HCG very low and not doubling

HCG very low and not doubling

Does anyone know any positive stories of women who started out with low HCG that was doubling in 48-72 hours very early on (2weeks after conception) but resulted in healthy babies?  PLEASE SHARE.  I have been TTC for over 3 years and finally got pregnant via CLOMID & IUI.  My HCG 11 days after insemination was 30 and only rose to 50 four days later (which was yesterday).  My doctor called to say he was not very optimistic about this and that I need to take another HCG test in two days to see where I am at.  Any experience/comments/opinions about this would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you so much.  Best wishes to all.

Heather,
I just want you to know i hope the best for you.  They look for your HCG to go up at LEAST 66% every 48 hours in early pregnancy.  My friend works at an infertility clinic and she said there ARE successful pregnancies that have a slow start but not all of them unfortunately.  I would just keep watching it and keep getting u/s until you see development and can know for sure.  My best goes to you! Mine was doubling as it should but mine ended up an ectopic unfortunately!

hi.  i am now 7 weeks pregnant.  i also started out with low hcg numbers.  at 14 dpo i was only 48 and then two days later it was only 68.  my doc was also not optimistic and concerned about possible ectopic pregnancy.  i had my blood tested every 2 days for the next week.  It doubled once and then it tripled.  Then it didn't double.  I was going crazy.  My doc ordered an ultrasound last week at 6 wks.  We actually saw a heartbeat and the baby dated exactly perfect at 6 wks 1 day.  Now, anything can still happen.  But, right now, everything seems to be ok.  I am due for another ultrasound in 3 wks.  Good Luck.  things could still be fine.  I will have my fingers crossed for you.

Thank you all so much for sharing your stories and good wishes. My husband just read them with me.  He is as anxious as I am.  Time has never gone by so slow.  I had taken this week off of work to fly back east to visit my family, but when I found out the good news I canceled my trip.  Mainly because I have a bad cold/flu with ear problems and did not want to take meds to fly.  But now I am stuck at home, sick, and W-A-I-T-I-N-G.  I go in tomorrow morning for my next HCG test.  My husband thinks my illness may have something to do with what's going on with the HCG, but from what I've read it does not.  Any thoughts?  Misty, I'm not having any bleeding, spotting, cramps, nothing!  That, I hope, is a good sign.  Klnim, are you 7 weeks from your last period or past conception?  I'm just wondering how long I will have to wait to know something more definitive.  If the numbers have doubled by tomorrow GREAT, but if not and my period doesn't come, then what?  I just W-A-I-T?  Have the three of you been trying for long?  I think I mentioned it's been over three years for my husband and I - two years naturally and almost a year with medical help.  Misty and Kellied, I am so sorry to hear about your outcomes.  Where are you both now?  Trying again I hope.  My mother was just telling me about three of her friends in their late 30's, early 40's who were all trying to get pregnant at the same time.  They all had miscarriages before going on to have healthy, beautiful babies!  I wish the best to all of you.  Please keep me posted on what's going on with you.  I honestly can't believe this is the first time I've accessed a support network like this.  I don't know anyone else going through this so it has been a rather lonely experience for me all these years.  Thank you all.  Heather

Have you had any bleeding or spotting?  I also had an IVF and started spotting and then bleeding around day 10.  I had a blood test and an initial hcg of 56 at day 12 post transfer.  The dr's considered this weak and I repeated the blood test on day 16 where my hcg was only 79.  So I had to wait for another loooooong week and my hcg was only 146.  At this point, the dr's told me that this was an abnormal pregnancy and I had probably miscarried.  I KNOW what you are going through and hope and pray that your results are different than mine.  Try to stay positive and hope for the best.

Heather, I'll be hoping and praying the best for you! i KNOW what you are going through.  The waiting is TORTURE.  I think a minute feels like 24 hours! I just had surgery last week.  I had an ectopic that ruptured..i am really depressed now.  I don't think i want to try again and that makes it harder.  I'm feeling better physically though.  Keep us posted! My HCG levels were doubling every 48 hours..but i was spotting and bleeding off and on the whole time.  At the very end i had horrendous cramping..like labor pains..and it was very sharp on one side..it felt like i was going to explode..thus finding the ectopic =( Anyhow, my prayers are going out for you and hubby..it was really hard on myhubby too..wondering, waiting and seeing me going through all the fear! HUGS!

Kellied, I'm so sorry about what you are going through.  I'm sure you are depressed.  Who wouldn't be?  I can't even imagine.  I know I would be devestated!  Hang in there though.  You may feel differently about trying again down the road a bit.  Try to focus on your recovery right now - physically and emotionally.  MANY HUGS RIGHT BACK TO YOU!  Heather

The fact that you are not spotting, bleeding or cramping is a good sign.  Hang in there and keep thinking positively.......I know how agonizing the wait is but there is really nothing more you can do but wait and hope!  I have been trying to get pregnant naturally for a year and then with fertility treatments for six months.  I am hoping to try the IVF again in a couple of months which is when they tell me that it is safe to try again.  It is really hard to get over the pain and disappointment and I am hoping that you will not have to go through it.  I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

Hi Heather.

I know the time is going by so slowly.  I am sending you good thoughts for tomorrow's results.  I am 7 weeks past my last period.  So, an ultrasound can be done 4 weeks past conception to make sure if pregnancy is in your uterus.  You may not be able to see heartbeat yet.  But definitely by 8 weeks past last period.  I am not bleeding, cramping or anything.  I just had low and weird hcg numbers.  I am still not relaxed and able to fully enjoy yet.  I am lucky enough to have toddler identical twin girls.  we have been  trying on and off to get pregnant again over the last year.  I am 40.  I have three good friends who have had miscarriages in the last year, all after having healthy babies.  It was so weird.  And that is another reason I keep thinking, it could happen to me.  but, i will be positive.  About you though,  things sound good.  Good luck tomorrow.  I will be thinking about you and your husband and will check in later.

Hello everyone.  Well the HCG was 144 today - up from 50 on Tuesday. So it's doubling, well almost. Progesterone: 55.  The nurse said I probably just got off to a slow start.  I have to test again in a week.  I am too nervous now to get overly excited, but things look good.  I kept myself very busy with errands this morning to keep my mind off of the wait for the results.

I have to tell you all that I brought my husband to the computer last night when he got home from work.  When he read what you had shared, he cried, happy tears!  He wanted me to thank you all for sharing your stories and good wishes.  When I called him just now to give him the good news, I was crying and before I could get a word out he thought the news was bad.  Then I said "happy tears" and he of course was beside himself.  Anyway after a great conversation he said, "Are you going to go tell your new friends on-line now?"  ....and that's what I'm doing. Thank you all so much for being there to share all of this with.  My best wishes to all of you.  Keep me posted on how you are doing.  Do any of you already have kids?  This will be our first.  Well, please do keep in touch.  Heather :)

hi heather.

wonderful news!  i am very happy for you.  i know it will be tough to wait another week but all seems good so you can be cautiously optimistic.  try to relax tonight and enjoy what is happening inside of you.  deep breath.  by the way, there are some great books out that you can keep track how your baby is growing on a week by week basis.  it is fun and amazing when you understand how much is taking place on a weekly basis.  good luck again and i am so glad you have wonderful news.

Thanks again everyone for your continued feedback and good wishes.

I'm still nervious about my next test.  I wish I didn't have to wait until Friday.  It seems like an eternity!  Tomorrow I will be ending my fifth week.  Do you think something can be seen on an ultrasound yet?  I just want to see something in the uterus so I can relax about the ectopic issue.  I was having a lot of pain on one side but it seems to have been gas.  I'm not really experiencing nausea, but I've been having so much gas and indigestion, and such a noisy stomach!  This is not at all normal for me. Does it have anything to do with pregnancy?  Is this normal?  I read that it is the HCG that causes morning sickness.  Therefor, I'm getting a little nervious about my levels because I don't feel any nausea - just a lot of tightness which I'm sure is anxiety!

---Kellied, Again I am so sorry that you are having to go through all this.  How fortunate you are though to have three wonderful boys - you are truly blessed!  One of my cousins was in a similar situation.  She has three beautiful girls.  I think they are 16, 14, and 8 - roughly.  She had a miscarriage between the last two daughters and at least one more (twins) after the last daughter.  She and her husband really wanted a boy.  After many many years of unsuccessful attempts, they stopped trying but they didn't stop having sex.  Guess what, two weeks ago she FINALLY delivered little baby ALEXANDER!  Miracles do happen!  I'm still nervious about a possible ectopic.  When did your symptoms start and how far along were you when it ruptured?  Is there a norm for when these things happen?  Am I pass the point now that I should be worrying about this?  Oh, I hope so!

---Klmin, I took SEVERAL deep breaths and puchased more pregnancy books than I can really afford, but I'm having so much fun reading them. You are right, it is amazing how much takes place so soon!  I bought mostly nutritional books with some great recipes.  Once I start trying them, I'll share the good ones with you - :)
