HELP!!! I have a 3 year old daughter that won't potty...

Ok well for starters I have a three year old daughter who has a history of seizures, sensory issues and shes delayed in areas.  In the past I've tried potty training but therapist told me that she was still to young to get her fully trained.  She has been showing me signs of interst of potty training, she has been holding herself, getting up in the morning with a dry diaper, telling me that she pooped, and that she went pee pee, and shes hollering for the potty.  I started out this time with just setting her fully clothed on the potty and let her watch me use the potty and explained what I was doing.  Today however I decided that I was going to try to get her potty trained once and for all, this morning I put her in her little panties and kept asking her throughout the day if she needed to go, to make a long story short several pairs of panties was wetted in after her setting on the potty for minutes (I just set her on the potty and let her up when she was ready to get up.) But just as soon as you do let her up she pees on the floor.  This evening about an hour and a half after her last accident I thought she was ready to use her "potty".  So I sat her on there and was talking to her and when she was trying to get up I wouldn't let her because I knew she had to go. Well after a half an hour on the potty I just let her up and took the potty in the livingroom where we would be to watch her until she showed me that she was fully "ready", needless to say she peed on the floor again. Does anyone got any ideas, tips or advise on how to get my daughter potty trained?  Is there something else I should be doing? Thanks

honestly, it sounds like she may not be ready yet. Especially if she is happy to sit there (i assume you are not forcing her to sit there) and then peeing on the floor. I know people think that kids should be trained by 3, but in reality some kids just aren't developmentally ready yet, especially if they have other delays. I suspect that one day it will just "click." In the mean time, you will have to exercise some patience, which I know can be frustrating. Everytime you think she may have to go simply ask if she wants to use the potty. Do this every 2 hrs or so. If she says no, drop it and move on. When you go to change her diaper, simply ask if she would like to try the potty or if she wants to be changed on the changing table. These regular reminders, with no pressure added, will keep it in her mind without turning it in to a power struggle. If she is actually eager to try (which you make it sound) you can set a timer or get her a cute potty watch. I have seen them at babies r us and in the One Step Ahead catalog. Keep it a positive experience as you have. You can even go to the book store and buy some special, favorite books to keep next to the potty. But like I said, she may not be ready, especially if she is on the spectrum.

Panties aren't the key to potty training, anyway.  A child who is ready will train when still in pull-ups.  Put her back in the pullups and do whatever actions you like to get her onto the toilet when she tells you she wants to pee or poo.  But don't put her into panties until she is consistently keeping her pullup dry at all other times.
