HELP! MY soon to be 3 YEARS OLD WONT ASK TO GO TO THE POTTY!

i really need help. I have been trying to potty train my son for a while. He does great every time i ask him to go potty he does. I let him wear undies at home and diapers when we have to go to the gym or for a long trip. The only problem is he just doesnt ask me when he has to go. if i forget or miss my chance to ask him every 20-30 min he will go in his undies and then when i realize it he just says im sorry mommy.
Lets not talk about the poop. he just hides in his room and poop and if u ask him if he has to go he says no. i tried all kinds of bribes. m&m's, stickers, cars.....nothing is gettin him to just start going all on his own. I am getting very frustrated and some days i just feel like i failed. I started telling him he will not watch any tv every time he has an accident. i dont know if that will work. i am honestly runnin out of options. I asked him today, after he pooped in his underwear why did he do it and he simply said "i was playing with my cars". i told him he can take some in the bathroom with him but what else can i do? i would love t take him to pre-k and stuff but he has to be potty trained.

honestly, it sounds like he is not ready emotionally, and the best thing to do would be to back off. Build going potty into the daily routine (when you wake up, before nap, before bath) and maybe ask him a couple of times throughout the day, but keep him in a diaper and keep it casual. If he says no, accept it and move on. What you are doing will most likely backfire and actually make it longer for him to train. When it is no longer a power struggle, he will probably start to go more on his own.

My son is 4 and has only been pooping on the potty for a few weeks.  It's probably too early if your child is still 2.  Some preschools accept kids in diapers or pullups, look into the Goddard School for one example.
