HPV

My ? is really not pertianing to babies, but I am ttc.  I have HPV.  ABout 2 years ago I had the LEEP procedure done and everything has been fine.  NO abnormal paps.  I just spoke with my dr nurse and she said that I will have to come back in April for another pap.  This recent one came back abnormal.  I do not understand why I have to come back in 6 months instead of now.  We are ttc and I do not want to be having any surgeries while I am pg if I get that way anytime soon.  Has anyone had trouble ttc or even being pg and having this happen.  Any input would be appreciated about HPV and ttc or pregnancy.

I started to try to conceive because of the HPV that keeps coming and going.  If you scroll down further on this site someone had questions about this yesterday and got many different repsonses.  When the doc told me it came back the next month I ttc and did.  I am now 14 weeks and refused a colposcopy until after the baby is born.  I have had problems but not related to that so you should be fine.

Good Luck.

HI, i have hpv and had no problem conceiving.  Although God had other plans for this baby, getting pregnant was never an issue.  All my doctor told me was that i had an option on wether or not to do the surgery or wait.  I wanted to wait.  But yeah HPV isnt a real big issue when it comes to pregnancy, or at least thats what my doctor told me.  Im currently going through a m/c but nothing had to do with the Hpv.  You'll be fine hun!!!(((smile)))

I had HPV and had it frozen went back in 3 months and got another bad pap and found out I was pregnant.  everyting was fine. Dr. said your hormones changing during pregnancy could sometimes make the HPV disapear and if not we would do something about it after I had the baby.  When I had her and got checked again it was all gone and it has been 5 years now with all good news at yearly check up time.

I asked the question yesterday about the abnormal pap and the hpv.  I just had another thought.  Can I still deliver vaginally with HPV?  Or would I need a c-section?

You can deliver vaginally...unless you also have the warts too.  They will be able to tell when your cervix dilates

I had an abnormal pap from HPV in Jan 06 and my drs told me it was okay to wait for surgery and ttc.  It was so mild that they knew that there was a great possibility it would go away on it's own after birth.

As in my previous pregnancy the dysplasia went back to normal after birth...seems the birth washes away all the bad cells and the new ones are healthy.  Well since then I've had 3 m/c so now I'm scheduled for a LEEP on 11/21.

My dysplasia has advanced just a bit but most likely that is due to my immune system being broken down from 3 pregnancies and 3 m/c....

I decided to have the procedure now since I do not want to wait until my next baby as I have no idea when that will be...after 3 m/c I'm starting to think it's never but honestly....if I didn't have to wait another year I again would put off the surgery.

It's not that big of deal if they monitor it...most HPV dysplasia clears on it's own.

I suggest taking prenatal vitamins now...the extra folic acid is said to help HPV and dysplasia.

If you get an abnormal pap that is very low (mild), it isn't necessary to get an immediate repeat pap ... they merely need you to come back in six months to see if you have remained the same, are no longer abnormal at all, or have increased to moderate or high displasia.

One of my friends had a LEEP a year ago and conceived in June on her first try. All is well with her pg.

Best wishes!

Lin, lawgirl is right...
The only reason I am having the LEEP is because this has been on and off mild since Jan 04....and not it's advanced a bit...not moderate yet but no longer mild.

I have been seen every 6 months for 2.5 years now and finally am having it done.

Most abnormal paps from HPV go back to normal within 18months...that's why they are just watching it now.

Let me tell you this -  If you think having the procedure for an abnormal pap during pregnancy is bad - a friend a mine just told me her sister is 19 weeks pregnant and they discovered actual cervical cancer - not just HPV.  She had to have a large part of her cerivx removed during the pregnancy...and she's still ok!!  I'm sure everything will be fine! :)
