I had the HSG after a m/c and then trying to conceive for a year with no luck. It is not very painfulPainful menstrual periods, mild cramps as they are doing it (at least for me). They did end up finding a blockagePeripheral artery disease that the procedure took care of (it does not always happen this way). I did become pg the next month after having it done. Don't know if it was from the procedure or if I was relaxed enough--was on vacation. But a lot of dr's say that you will increase your chances of becoming pg after having this done (within three to six months) I believe is the stats. for the HSG opens things up a bit more.
It's uncomfortable, but tolerable. It will also give the doctor information about the appearance of your lining and the shape of your uterus. Laproscopy is more accurate for checking the condition of your tubes, but the HSG is a good test to start with.
I had an HSG to check to see if my endometriosis had closed off my tubes. The HSG was uncomfortable but I did find out my tubes were open and I was pregnant the following month. Good Luck
I had it done several years ago. Thyey blow up your uterus with air, and squirt dye in to see if everything looks the way to should. If there is no blockage, the dye should go up the fallopian tubes. The procedure was uncomfortable, but you can take motrin or tylenol beforehand. I did have major cramping all that evening though. I just took tylenol, and went to bed early.
I had the HSG done last September after having a ectopic and it was painful but tolerable. I just had my tube removed on Saturday due to another ectopic pregnancy in the same tube and will probably have to go though another HSG to check my left tube. This is an experience i thought i would never had to go through again. For me, the cramping was bad laying there but once the test was over i was fine. Im praying everything will look fine and i one day have a successful pregnancy with a healthy baby.
Hey girl! I had HSG done about 10 years ago, so maybe things have changed. :) For me, it was like SEVERE af cramps. I was so tense that they thought my tubes were blocked. So I had a laparoscopy done to unblock them, only to find out that they weren't blocked at all. My doc said that sometimes you can be so tense when having the procedure that it can make the Radiologist think your tubes are blocked. So, try to relax! (easier said than done!) Good luck!
This is if you are not having any other problems.
