I Just had an HSG test done today to check and see if there were any blockagePeripheral artery disease in either of my filopian tubes. I had an ectopicEctopic pregnancy pregnancy back in October 2005 and they are just doing the test as a precaution to make sure i won't have any problems in the future since my husband and I are trying to have a baby again! Unfortunetly i have a doctor who has poor communication skills and she did not tell me the results of the test or what was even happening. The procedure was very painfulPainful menstrual periods for me. I could feel the dye going through both sides of my tubes. The ONLY thing i heard the doctor say was "The dye is coming back out" Now is this a good sign? Prior to this procedure i did read about this test and it said that the results are avail almost immediately my doctor didn't bother telling me anything and just said she will see me this week sometimes when they get the results. should i have gotten them right away? Help I need to learn a lil about this.
I was lucky in that the doctor who did my hsg told me that the dye flowed through both tubes, and everything looked fine. However, in your case it sounds like your obgyn will have to give you the results. I'm not sure if the the statement about the dye "coming back out" means it came out the other end or backed out the way it came.
I had this same test and my doctor talked to me about the results right after the procedure......The x-ray techs were in the room reading the screen as the process was going on...Then the doctor went over everything!
chrismosa_das -- My doc told me right away as well. I'm sorry she left you hanging...
mslkpage -- when your doc found the adhesions, did he/she treat them? And how long did it take you to get pg after the Laparoscopy? If my period comes this month, we're doing a Lap in July.
The lap was done last December, and he was able to remove them all by laser. They were mostly on the left side- left tube, ovary, and ligament. He also removed a large cyst on my right ovary.
That's good to hear. I've been a little leery about having the Lap done, but I think I'm finally ready. We've been trying for 1yr 8mo. Had HSG in January and was told my left tube was blocked, but then I got pg immediately following; however, I lost it at 5.2 weeks. Nothing since. :o(
The lap was not bad...nothing that pain meds won't get you through! Mine was on a Wednesday. That Friday, I ran a few errands and was back at work the following Monday.
Good!! I'm sure you'll be fine. I told my RE to take out anything and everything that might be causing problems. My only regret was that I didn't have it done sooner.
BTW, I had my hsg following an ectopic. I assumed that clear tubes meant everything was A-ok. However, when I still couldn't get pg more than a year later, I agreed to consult a specialist who performed laparoscopy on me. He discovered a lot of adhesions on the OUTSIDE of my tubes which were preventing me from getting pg. I guess all I'm trying to say is, if you're still not able to get pg, don't assume that a clear hsg means all is well.

The following cycle, I got pg. :)
Who's doing your lap? An RE or an obgyn?
