I had an hsg done to test after 2 m/c. that's interesting that after it's done dr. believes easier to conceive. i had posted an article in a forum on 6/05 titled Interesting Article - it's not about the hsg, but wrote about a procedure that dr.'s did in order to test protein levels by doing biopsies from the uterus in womenWomen's way who were ttc, but were unsuccessful with even IVF. in the end these womenWomen's way became pregnant, but not from the testing of the protein the dr.s believe it had something to do with the incisionsIncision for abdominal laparoscopy Incision for lung biopsy Incision for pleural tissue biopsy Incision for thyroid gland surgery in the utuerus. something to this effect, but again the whole article is posted lower down on 6/5. I don't know if any of it is scientifically proven, but i thought it was something interesting for anyone having trouble with conceiving to show their drs.
on another note, i had a quick question about BBT #'s: i'm not a BBTer and don't normally check temps or anything, but i was just wondering what the #'s would normally look like 1 week after ovulation if a)pregnant and b)not pregnant. i've taken the past 2 mornings - before getting out of bed and both over 98 - i ovulated 1 week ago - just wondering if anyone has any idea what this could mean. i know that to really be able to tell have to chart #'s regularly, but just curious so if anyone could tell me anything about it that would be great. thanks in advanceAdvance care plus Advance relief.
I had a m/c in Feb 05 after 3 months of TTC, then an ectopic in July 05 after one month of TTC. After my HSG in Sept 05, I had high hopes of getting pg right away, but here I am in June 06 still not pg. But I will agree, I've heard more positive stories after the procedure than ones like mine.

what date did you get your af? i don't think you should worry about being pregnant and taking the hsg if your test came back negative. when i took it i took a hpt that morning just to be sure i wasn't pregnant (it was on the 6th day after my period). so on the morning of just take another pregnancy test to be sure. and if negative don't stress over it too much. hopefully the test will help you get that positive the next time 'round.
also, i'll tell you a little bit about my experience with the hsg to prepare you and hopefully make you a little less nervous. to be honest it was definitely uncomfortable and there was definite cramping, but it wasn't huge bouts of pain and after lying down for 10 minutes after test cramping really subsided. now i don't normally cramp during period so it could be that's why i didn't have that much cramping with this test (i don't know), but there was some cramping and more severe than i would get if i ever did cramp. what happens is they put a catheter to open your cervix and then put the dye in through a thin tube (or something like that) - the dr. explained that b/c the dye is so thick and your fallopian tubes are so thin it can be uncomfortable and feel crampy. i knew when the dye was going through the tubes b/c i felt it and that really was the worst part, but once it went through it really wasn't so bad. after the test was done i had some bleeding. i lay on the table for an extra ten minutes to let the cramps subside. the rest of the day i had discharges (extra of the dye - which is clear, but on x-ray becomes black) and some bleeding, but not heavy. i really felt okay afterwards and even went back to work. Thank G-d they saw that everything looked clear and fine. Really don't worry too much - i looked at it like this either i could get it done and stress out tons about it, but still have to get it done b/c it's a means to an end or i don't have to stress out about it and get it done b/c again it's a means to an end and it's worth the discomfort to reach that end (G-d Willing) I really hope that your hsg goes smoothly and it is the means to reach your goal - to carry a healthy pregnancy. good luck and keep me posted.
Yeah, they did mine on CD8 to make sure I wasn't pg. I personally thought when the balloon cathedar was inflated was the worst part- I wanted to jump off the table but that balloon kept me tethered. The dye injection really didn't bother me, and the cramps were uncomfortable, but not unbearable.
Sweetmoon, why are you worried that your pg if you on day 7 of AF? Because it came late? You kind of lost me on that part.
hi i went throught my hcg on 5/10/06 an it was really uncomfortable and painful lots of cramping and some discharge and spotting afterwards but it left little by little and its all worth it if we reach our goal well not preg yet but hopefully soon and hope soon for you too. (sending out prayers and baby dust for all.)
I'm new just my own input. I've had 2 HSG's about 4 years ago, the first determined that my tubes were blocked which led to a laporoscopy and the 2nd was to make sure they were not still blocked after laporoscopy (they weren't)
The reason I believe your dr. said women get pg after an hsg is b/c the dye which goes through your very thin fallopian tubes many times can help to open and clear your tubes which can aid in becoming pg, but that's not true for everyone. Each case is different.
