Hi Ladies. I will be having a HSG pretty soon and I'm a bit nervous. Will you share your experiences with me please? Also, I am wondering if my tubes are blockedBlocked tear duct, do they correctCorrect (new formula) the problem right then, during the HSG?? And if so, what do they do to remove the blockagePeripheral artery disease and is it painfulPainful menstrual periods? I don't mean to bombard you with so many questions, I just want to know what I'm about to go through.
I had an HSG done about a year ago. I was really nervous about the procedure due to another tramatic procedure, not related, but that sort of make me really nervous when pain can be involved. I told my MD and she gave me a one time prescription for a sedative and pain med. However, the procedure was not that bad considering that the meds she ordered me were not really that strong. Anyway, the doctor was there during the procedure. She told me that everything looked OK but that someone else would look at the results. So, they did not do any sort of intervention. I really don't think that they would correctCorrect (new formula) any blockages since this is a diagnotic procedure. Anyway, good luck...and try not to worry. It really isn't that bad.
I myself had no idea it was going to be like it was everywhere I read it said mild discomfort... well that wasnt the case for me...
It started just like a paps, but then they had to stick the cathedar through my cervix and the problem was that my cervix was tightly shut so they had to open it causing it to dialate...(bad pain) once that part was done, I still had cramping thoughout the whole procedure... and you must keep that position while they inject the dye into your tubes, this also causes cramping....lets just say that it was bad..but it was worth it for me because now I know that there is nothing wrong with my tubes...or uterus... just take some pain killers before and after, and hopefully you wont feel the pain. Good Luck!
hi i had a HSG done 12 months ago before i started IUI...my doctor ordered it so as to make sure everything was clear and no probs...i felt a little discomfort when they pricked my cervix...and i had a little bleeding afterwards which was very light and lasted about 1-2 days...i felt s slight burning when they put the dye in but it was not unbearable... all in all its wasnt that bad really...but then everyones level of pain is different...just try and relax focus on a spot on the ceiling and think of something that makes you happy...try and zone out... :)
I'm going in for a dye test in Dec. as soon as AF gets here. I had a m/c on 11/20. It's going to help the dr. see if anything is in the tubes (debis, etc). He also said that he would be able to see if endometriosis or something of that nature was causing any problems. I've heard that it will increase fertility as it should flush the tubes and therefore increase my chances to conceive.
I had the hsg done in 2002. I had a m/c in 2001 and coul dnot get pg after that for a year and half. Dr. ordered it,for me it was mild discomfort. They inserted the die and the right side went through just fine, then the tube fell out and they had to redo theprocedure the left side had a small blockage that the dye when pushed through the second time took care of--I was pg the next month and delivered a healthy baby boy.
