My girl is enormous! 97th percentile on weight! I think she looks adorable though. She's 4 months and a week and weighing in at 16.8 lbs, 24.5 inches long. I was a big baby too so I'm not worried, I know she will walk it off. I just think it's funny how everyone asks how old she is and then completeComplete Complete a-z Complete allergy Complete natal Complete premium Complete senior Complete-rf strangers feel free to comment about how she's "really big" for four months. They've been saying that since 2 months lol. I asked the doctor about 97th percentile being overweight and she said she wasn't worried one bit and that Leah is perfectPerfect choice and I'm doing everything right. Those are the best doctor visits lol. The day after her shots her temp got up to 101.4 and I was pretty scared. I got her in the tub and it went right back to normalNormal saline flush.
Oh yes, I also have a huge baby. My son was always above the 75th percential, and he was born 8# 14oz. I thought that was big until I had my daughter a year later. She was born 10# 7.5oz. I had some people over here the other day to weigh her, and they just started laughing. I asked them what, and they said that her wieght and height were litterally OFF THE CHARTS. She is just about 4 months old (on the 8th of Jan. she will be 4 months), and she weighs 16# (some odd ounces) and is a littleLittle noses decongestant Little tummys over 24 inches long. They said that she is above the 100th percential. I think it is so funny. I love her to death, and I actually feel blessed to have big babies. I was small when I was born, and I was also a day late (when I was born). Both of my kids were late. My oldest was 4 days late, (born sept. 8th, 2006) and my daughter was 9 days late (born also on sept. 8th, 2007).
Good luck with your chunker. God bless you and your family.
Oh, well my DD at 5 months was in the 100% for height weight, and head circumference. I agree, I would rather a chubby baby than a skinny one. By the way, now at 15 months, she is slim and is as tall as most 2 year-olds, she is still in the 97%, she still has a really large head but we just say she is going to be really brainy:)
I get the opposite. My 8 month old is only 14 pounds 1 ounce-26 in! She was born 4 lbs 14 oz. 17 in. Her friends that were born the same month look like giants next to her. Ever since she was born EVERYWHERE I go people ask how old she is. She was sitting up at 4.5 months and people couldnt believe their eyes. She looked like a 2 mo old sitting there. She just started wearing 3-6 mo clothes last mo and what sucks is that sooooooooo many people got her clothes for my baby shower and she cant wear any of it because it was for this past summer if she had been normal size...such a waste!
my son's doc told me that he was in the 99th perctile for his age group when he was 6 months old...he is 18 months now and has grown out of his baby fat, but he has surrpassed all of his milestones...his docs said he has the healthy, mind and activness of a 4 year old so don't even worry about it
My baby was born 5 weeks early, so basically a preemie but she weighed 7 lbs!!!! Now she is almost 5 months old and is also in the 97th precentile. At her four mo. checkup she was 16 and 1/2 pounds and 25 inches long. She has LOTS of rolls.....infact, sometimes I have to put a little diaper rash cream under her neck because it gets red from all the rolls rubbing together!! LoL She sure doesn't look preemie now! Ha ha.
Mine were both big too! Carson was off the charts at birth too, 10 lbs. 3 oz. He went to the hospital at 11 weeks by ambulance and they were monitoring his oxygen levels. They were about to discharge him and the Dr. noticed his age, they kept us another 2 hours as they thought he was older and could handle it, then they caught the age and realized he was still pretty little. Cam is 9 months old and 23 lbs., would be more, but he has been sick and barely eaten since Monday. He's a little chunk and so cute. Carson was the same way and now he's 4 and tall and thin. I think the chubby ones are so cute, and if they get sick a lot like mine, they have reserves for when they can't hold anything down or don't want to eat. I was told Cam is a chunk in part because of the steroids for his breathing and the GERD. Oh well, he crawls really well and is starting to pull up, even though he has rolls and no ankles, or wrists. Enjoy the baby fat, they need the padding and stores now, it will go when they move more.
My little girl will be four months on the 16th, and she is 15 pounds. She was 17 days early, 8 pounds and 20.5 inches, she would have been huge!!! At her 2 month appointment she was in the 90th for height and weight, and 25th in head, big chubby body and tiny little head!
Ugh, Ashtyn is 6 months old and 14 pounds 4 ounces and 24 inches long. 75th percentile for head, 35th for weight, and 10th percentile for length.....and those percentiles are for his adjusted age of 4 months, which means he is not even ON the chart for a 6 month old...!!!! Would anyone like to send some chunky baby fat and some length our way????? lol
At this point, his ped is just happy that he is growing. He has been out of the hospital for 4 months now and has gained 6 pounds since. No one has said anything about being underweight but his ped generally keeps her opinion to herself until she decides to do something, then tells us there is a problem so WHO KNOWS...lol
My co-worker has a little guy 4 days older than my little Cam, he was a few oz. bigger, just 9 lbs. at birth and she went on and on about how much bigger her baby was since mine was only 8 lbs, 13 oz. She felt she needed special attention at work after giving birth to such a big baby, and always went on about it, I had to point out my first one was over a pound bigger than her baby. She still thought it necessary to need to rest alot since she had been so worn out from the big baby. He went to his 9 month check up, and she has been bragging about how he along with her first baby have been in the 100th percentile, he was 17 lbs! Little Cam is 23 lbs. and over an inch longer, she still swears her son is in the 100th percentile and is very long and lean and he was compared on an adjusted scale since he's not fat, but muscular. Whatever...Cam has rolls and I love it, but he's a strong little bugger and is pulling and starting to stand even under all that chub. Her muscular bigger than mine baby has yet to crawl and just sits there. I figure it's not his fault his mom is a spazz. Cute little guy, just thin. He is not underwieght, so I'm sure that 14 lbs. at 6 months would be fine. I bet he's cute too!
what size is she in? Her picture is adorable I would not worry about her weight she will bounce right out of it.
My daughter is 8 months - 28" and 17lbs. I think she is average in everything just a little above in height but I have a problem with clothes for her. If she is average then why is she in 12-18 month clothes? 3-6 we skipped and 6-9 lasted only a month or so. I packed away so much stuff she never even wore.
I think im carrying a big girl!! she was measuring 'chunky' at my 20w U/S.. and i was myself a 10 pounder.... my husband was an 8 pounder... we are big people! lol
Needless to say I am SOOO proud of her either way.... but i would be sooooo happy to have a little chubby baby in my arms! can't resist those cheeks and those little rolls... can't wait to kiss those little chubby hands with holes.... OH.. i am melting here.....
It is an amazing feeling giving birth to a baby. I loved giving birth to my children, sounds funny, but I did. When my daughter was born, the doc said "oh she probably weighs about 9pounds." Well, she amazed us all and she weighed 10 pounds 7.5 ounces. She was huge. I delieverd her in 2 hrs. and I only pushed a few times, and I had no meds. I think it was delievering her than my 8 pound 14 ounce boy.
I wish you the best of luck, and they only get bigger (which means there is more to love!)
My granddaughter is normal in all respects but is 90 percentile in head size. My daughter didn't say anything but this concerns me. Am I over re-acting
My third son was only 7lbs 3ozs at birth. But now he is just over 5 mos. old and weighs 21lbs. He is so adorable. I love to hold him under his arms just at my face level. With my hands elevating his arms slightly his cheeks bunch out and he looks like a big chipmunk! Most strangers love him, and talk about how cute he is. But I've also got the rude people telling me to put him on a diet, feed him less formula and give him a pacifier. One woman even suggested I put him on fat free cows milk....RUDE! Telling me he's obese for a baby. My first son was the same way, rollie-pollie, my second son is only 5lbs more than my 5 month old, and he's 2...lol.
Good luck with your chunker. God bless you and your family.
