HYPOGLYCAEMIA

Has anyone had a newborn baby suffering from Hypoglycaemia at birth.

I myself was a baby born with low blood sugar. Granted, I have never officially been diagnosed, but my mom is hypoclycaemic and both my sister and I have occasional drops in blood sugar to this day, and we are almost 20 years old. The trick is to, all your life, just keep your eating habits on a schedule and under control - I was lucky my mom was familiar with it because she made me sit down to three square meals a day plus healthy snacks, and I never really had a problem with it as a kid because of that.
When I was born my blood sugar was low enough that I had to go to a special nursery to stay under surveillance for a bit, but afterwards I was fine. From my knowledge of hypoglycaemia, when the sugar drops, do anything you can to bring it back up, by natural sources if you can. Artificial sugars like candy will bring it up fast but not for very long. If you can get ahold of natural sugars like fruit and fruit juices, you will be set for much longer, in time for your blood sugar to go back up naturally on its own.
If you have a baby with hypoglycaemia, I can only tell you to consult a specialist - I know what it's like when my sugar drops and I feel sick and faint and weak and just plain disgusting - I can barely describe how I feel to my friends and family when it happens so imagine how an infant must feel. It's not that much of a dibilitating disease (of course it depends on how serious it is) but so long as you eat regularly and well, and don't go off schedule, you will be fine.
