Hair loss after giving birth

My DD is almost 7 months old and I am still losing a ton of hair.  My hairdresser said it is very common to lose hair postpartum, but mine comes out in hand fulls when I wash and dry it.  Is anyone else experiencing this?

Yes, my hair was coming out in clumps.  I just gave up and got it cut short which helped a lot.  Mine stopped about 7 months postpartum

The same thing happened to me and it lasted about 6 or 7 months.

Yes, it's normal, it will eventuall stop.  I have very long hair too so that doesn't help.  It does grow back.  Now I am waiting to lose it all over again..

It is all hormones - pregnancy hormones makes our hair grow, nails grow - so when we are not pregnant no more - we loss some of our hair - i did some research on it and asked my dr - cazy hormones

Thyroid problems also cause hair loss. Have you had yours checked recently?

It has been almost 8 months for me and I'm still losing hair too. It was bad from about 3-6 months but has lessened. It happened with all five of my children. It's normal, but it can mean thyroid problems. In my case it was just hormonal.

I first lost hair after having DD then it started growing out in weirdest places (I literally got bangs which I haven't had in years).  It finally stabilized but I'm due with baby #2 in a couple of weeks so guess what's going to happen to my hair? ;)
