HcG Levels and BBT

HcG Levels and BBT

Hello,

I am 36 and after almost two years of trying to conceive, am three weeks pregnant. I live in Canada and can't seem to get a physician to see me before week 9 (two-thirds of the way through my first trimester). Needless to say, I am feeling rather on my own and unsure of things.

My question has to do with my HcG levels and my BBT. When I took my first HPT (18 dpo), the test was positive but the line indicating pregnancy was very faint. The test is sensitive to 25 mi/u of HcG. I took another the next day (too early I know...) and it was still faint but slightly stronger. That afternoon I had a serology test done (sensitive to 20 mi/u) and the line was stronger but still somewhat faint. As well, my BBT has dropped by about a 15th of a degree celsius since last week,(about a 30th of a degree fahrenheit) but seems to be staying at about 36.83.

Should I be worried that my temps have dropped a bit and my HcG levels seem low? I've had no spotting and have breast tenderness (good signs I think).

I'm not sure if I should have some HcG tests done without a physician to interpret the numbers for me. (I could end up worrying over nothing)

Also, I'm not sleeping nights. It could be due to the stress I feel. But could it also be a symptom of pregnancy? I wake up at 3:30 or 4am every night and often can't fall back asleep at all or for hours.

Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.

Hi!

I really feel for any woman who's Dr will not see them before they are 9,10,11,12 weeks pregnant. In fact I as reading an article in one of the top baby mags, how it was not good medical practice to do so and you should look for a Dr that will see you ASAP and do the necessary blood work, HCg, Progesterone, Rh compatibility, Rubella immunity, etc. With that in mind. Is there anyway/possibility you can find another OB?

There are TONS of good ones out there. Ask your family and friends for referals. And interview these Drs. afterall you are hiring them for the next 9 months to see that you deliver a healthy baby and the earliest of prenatal care is of the utmost importance, especially if you are over 35, well any age, but the risks do go higher after a certain age :)

GL to you and CONGRATS on your pregnancy!

I also follow my temps and because of my last pregnancy I'm being closely monitored by my physician.  You should not pay attention to your 1/100ths of a degree.  That will just drive you crazy.  Do look at the 1/10th temps.  As long as your temps are above your coverline you should be fine.  Make sure that you are taking your vitamins and folic acid.  The only way your HCG levels would be relevant at this time is if you had them checked one day and again 3 days later to ensure a rapid increase in levels.  You and I are on about the same pattern it sounds like!  I conceived Nov 4th.  My HCG levels were at 500 on nov 19 and at 4000 yesterday (nov 24).  Finding prenatal care is crucial.  What I would do is call and tell them you have irregular periods and your last one was 3 months ago and you just had a positive pg test.  Tell them you don't know how far along you are!  Then you can get the care you need!!!  They aren't going to just see you once then turn you away after finding that you aren't 9 weeks.  Plus you can ask all of the q's you have answered and get your prenatal vitamins.  It sounds a little scandalous, but if it took two years, you need to get immediate care to ensure the well-being of your baby!  Good luck.
