HcG levels

HcG levels

Anyone had levels that were way to high for how far along you are???  Mine are 17511 and I am 5 weeks 3 days from LMP. There is no way I could be any further along. What could that mean? I have to get levels rechecked tomorrow or tuesday. They saw a yolk sac but no fetal pole or anything else.  I went to the ER because I started bleeding like a period...they said it could go either way, threatened miscarriage. Just thought I would check here....

I have heard before that it usually means that you could be carrying multiple babies

Obviously I have absolutely no medical expertise to be basing this one BUT it sounds to me like maybe you were having twins and miscarried one but not the other.  I have heard of this happening and it would explain the high HCG (despite seeing only one baby on the u/s) and would also explain the bleeding.  Keep us posted and good luck!! My friends wife was pregnant with triplets.  She was 13 weeks along or so when she went to ER for heavy bleeding.  Her hormones were off the charts and they verified that she was infact having a miscarriage.  A week later they did a sonogram and verified that two fetuses remained.  It is possible to miscarry one child in a multiple birth.  Not really heard of much but its possible.
