HcG suddenly stopped doubling

HEllo, I'm new to the forum.  I am 5 weeks 5 days pregnant via IVF and here are my hcg results:
9/21  30
9/23  76
9/26  176
9/28  330
9/30  776
10/3  1126

as you can see the last reading failed to double and 4 days has passed.  I am terribly worried and would like to know if anyone knows of such a case where miscarriage was NOT the outcome?  I did IVF and had 2 embryos placed.  My Dr. is worried about ectopic and I will see him in a few days or an US.  My husband and I are sick with worry over this last reading.  I have no bleeding; However, very mild cramping.

Not once did I check my hcg levels while pregnant(there is enough things to worry about with out worrying your not in the right zone)

Waiting is the hardest part, I think though sometimes from posts here they dont always double but as long as they keep increasing

As long as they are going up, I think that's good.

Don't worry about cramping (if you have no bleeding).  When I was pg (5,6,7 weeks along) I had cramps just like I was having my period.  I think it has to do with your uterus starting to stretch a little and accomodate the embryo and placenta.

Please try not to worry.  As long as your numbers keep increasing that is the important thing. As for the cramping.. I had HORRIBLE cramping when i was pregnant and bled much like a normal period.  I even used a tampon and took motrin (i thought my IUI cycle had failed) Then went in for an HCG test and ended up being pregnant.  Needless to say I stopped taking the motrin and did not use tampons anymore. However I still bled through my 1st trimester. My numbers did not always double either. but they did increase.  I remember specificaly one time it being short by a couple hundred points for it doubling and I had a total meltdown.  Dr. said dont worry as long as there is an increase the fact it was not exactly double is not a panic sign yet.  We repeated the test the next day and  VIOLA it went up double and then some. :-) I hope you find these posts encouraging.  I know how difficult this is.  Please keep us posted and God Bless you.

i don't know how true this is but I heard worrying can cause your progesterone to go down.  (I believe this cause when I am stressed I bleed preg or not)  so I hope you can relax.  Best of luck

i think that would be normal. I know in the RARE occasions I have decided to be frisky very often( which has been ages ago:) That I would get a little sore. Wishing you the best of luck!

yes that is normal....i am soooooooooooo sick to my tummy. DH made such a nice meal....2 bites and BLAH!!!!! i can only eat triscuits. i don't feel like i have the flu and all i want is milk. this happened last nite too. i have no appetite. at least my tummy is finally calm....but man it hits fast and hard and when i see food.

sending all the TTCers 100lbs of baby dust to spread in their beds...can't wait for you BFPs!!!!

you go girl. you are in my prayers. good luck and tones of baby dust. my AF is coming the 10th. i have no symptoms, i had a little bit of nauseas and less apetite, but it usually happens when i am anxious. wow there is no more space for questions or opinions, the forum is busy today.  good luck everybody!!

i've had soreness at the cervix several times during BD-- always when I am O'ing... could you be O'ing? I forget where you are at in your cycle...

Yes perfectly normal!
Depending on how lubricated you are and with hormones, ovulation happening the body changes and just that you have been doing it constantly  (suprised it hasnt fallen off.lol)
It has happened to me even dh sometimes says its sore from too much you know what!!

Bella, please don't feel like you are alone.  I just posted last week (see HCG levels Close to Doubling topic) about a similar issue.  I'm 5.5 weeks pregnant (2nd time; lost first).  My HCG levels were:

155 to 247 (taken 48 hours later; should have been at 310)
247 to 817 (taken 4 days later; should have been at 988)

I go in for an ultrasound on Monday 10/10.  If your numbers had remained the same or had gone down, that might have been bad.  I think that doctors are concerned based on past experience if your numbers don't double.  But, I have heard of people whose numbers didn't double and everything was fine.  You can go on the internet and find HCG calculators that will figure your doubling time/ratio.  After plugging in my numbers, my ratios are coming down, which is good news.  The ultrasound will tell much more than any number will.  Keep the faith!!

Mimik-- It could be scar tissue, My first two sections were 9 and 10 years ago and right by the incision still has no feeling
I had my last c section (bikini line) and some feeling isnt there either.. My first two were up and down so I have an + on my belly.

i just realized you asked me if i looked at my vagina. don't know what promped that question to be directed at me....but okay. yes...i have looked at my vagina...have inserted tampons, contraceptives, and the usual female stuff. i know she's there and she looks normal to me....LOL. kind of confuse as to why you asked....did i miss something?

well surely when I do dishes I am gald I am single and when I don't have to pick up another's dirty clothes. And when I don't have to nag some couch potatoe.  SO mostly I am glad and know God has a plan.  It is only 3 hours later and I am all over being emotional - so it must be hormones.  Thank goodness.  I am back to my sassy independent self!!!

=( I didn't get a chance to BD yesterday hope I was ovulating yesterday. I REALLY think I was the day before(Monday), cuz I had more symptoms then, especially the cervical position, more open and soft. It was harder and more closed again yesterday. But if I DID "o" yesterday, if I didn't BD yesterday, but DID on Sunday and Monday, should I be ok? I mean the little fellas should have still been there waiting right? God bless!

I'm new here (hello everyone). I'm in the same situation.  But after reading some of your posts, I have greater hope.  On 10/1 I went to the ER because I saw some blood on the tissue after using the restroom.  They did an ultrasound and found the sac.  It measured 5 wks and 2 days.  They did not find a "yolk" or "fetal pole" and also told me I might have a blighted ovum. My Hcg levels were 11000.  The bleeding had already stopped once I got there. I went to my OB/GYN 10/4 and he did the ultrasound himself and got the same results.  I got my levels checked again and they were 14600.  They didn't double as I had hoped but my doctor said at least it's going up.  I go tomorrow to have them checked again.  I have another ultrasound 10/18. I hope everything works out because I have had two miscarriages since I remarried and he doesn't have any children.

Just wanted to thank everyone for the kind hopeful words.  I had another hcg reading today and my levels dropped.  My doctor is sure I have an eptopic pregnancy and I will go tomorrow to determine the next step.  This is my second ectopic, third round of IVF and have had one miscarriage.  I do have some good news... I have a healthy two year old daughter from IVF, and although I'm feeling very sad about losing this pregnancy I know many woman are still waiting for their first child. Thank you all again.

I'm so sorry about your eptopic pregnancy.  You've been through a lot already.  You are very strong and brave to have been through what you have.  Keep me posted on what's going on.

My ultrasound is scheduled for Mon. 10/10.  I'm very anxious.

Ijust read your post and it sounds just like what ive been through in the last 5 weeks.....

I also spotted slightly 5 weeks ago, and went to the hospital for a check up (since having a previous miscarriage).
They did an ultrasound and hcg levels test.  
The ultrasound had the same results as yours, gestation sac 5 weeks 1 day, no visable yoke, no visable fetal pole. the doc said this was expected because it was so early.
The bloods hcg came back 23,000 upon first test, then 30,560, then 34,002. I was told the level of 23,00 at 5 weeks was way to high (apparently anything over 10,000 you can see a baby and heart beat)and because they wernt boubling that it was a blighted ovum and that i would surely m/c. The doc asked me if i wanted to have a d+c or wait to miscarry naturally. i decided to wait and do it naturally again as i had been through it before, and didnt like the thought of surgery.

Two weeks later i still hadnt expelled the pregnancy tissue, so the doc ordered a d+c. the day of the d+c i had to have a routine ultrasound, to check the position of the gestation sac but to our amazment they found a baby and a heartbeat. I was dated 7weeks 2days and everything looked good.

The doc put it down to the dissapearing twin syndrome,( were one twin dies and leaves the other.) We were amazed, but angry at all the stress we'd been put under because of the doc being to quick to diagnose a negative result.  The doc said the reason that my levels were so high was because their was twins and why they werent doubling because their was only one left so only half the hormone was produced.
Thank god i didnt have the d+c at 5 weeks as the doc offered!!

I am currently 10 weeks and 3 days and everything seems to be going fine. we have our 12 week ultrasound in 11 days and i cant wait!!!

So all i can say in you position is please try to stay positive i know its almost impossible but it really does help, and hopefully youll get the postive outcome like i have.
please dont be rushed into a D+C cause as i have prooved docs dont always have it right!!!

Thank you so much for you encouragement.  I have been doing a lot of reading and I have found that most of the stories end up like yours.  So I pray that mine does too.  I don't have any more bleeding or spotting and no cramps.  My levels went from 14600 on 10/4 to 16400 on 10/6.  I does bother me that the numbers aren't doubling, but I still have hope.  I have to go again Monday to have them checked again.

I'm so happy for you and your family and I will definitely let you know the outcome as it unfolds.

hi, i also had IVF, i was transferred Sept. 12, 5 day transfer, 2 embryos.  i became preg., HCG was doubling find inititally, i went for vag. u.s. @ 6wks it was in my uterus, only 1. but they said it was small. so i came back at 7wks & they said they didn't see a baby, so now they are basically waiting for me to miscarry. it's so heartbreaking to go through this. i go for more blood on Mon. to see if my HCG is dropping, last Wed. my HCG was 9279, they said that was waaay too low for 7wks. i plan on asking them to test me for EVERYTHING before i do another one. i can't imagine why i always miscarry so early. they said it looked like mine stopped developing at around 5 1/2 wks.

   How far along are you?  I just had a m/c on Tuesday at 6 weeks.  My hcg was only 206.  Unfortunately, I had no real warning either... no cramps or red bleeding (I did have some very light brown spotting the previous week for 2-3 days, but then it stopped).  I just woke up and found some red blood when I went to the bathroom.  I went to the ER immediately, but unfortunately, after a vaginal ultrasound, I started to have a full-blown m/c with heavy bleeding and tissue.  Has your doctor done an ultrasound???  If I were you, I would try and find another doctor who will give you one, or else give you some other advice as to what can be done to preserve your pregnancy!  Also, try and rest and take it easy as much as you can.

They did a beta test and it was 110 then 2 days later it was 87. the docter said I should start bleeding in a couple of days and mc. Is ther any chance that this will be a full term pregnancy. Iam am not bleedind and have no cramps.
