Heartbeat vs Sex of Baby a myth. Had Ultrasound and it's a.......

by lovefamily, Mar 27, 2007 12:00AM
Hi Everyone.  I have been out of town.  Got back this week and went to Doctor for my ultrasound.  Always heard fast heartbeat was a girl and slower one a boy.  Well that was true with my first two.  Heartbeats in the 130's and they were boys.  This time heartbeat is in the 150's and 160's.  Everyone kept saying it's a girl.  Well, I had my u/s done, I am 18.4 weeks and it's a BOY!!  We was so hoping for a boy.  My hubbie and I both cried.  I am a late in life pregnancy at 40 and all looked excellent.  I refused genetic testing so this u/s was a big deal for us.  We feel so blessed.  If you are in your late 30's or early 40's and trying to get pregnant, don't give up.  It is possible.  May we all be blessed!

I am also 40 and expecting my 3rd.  I had maternal serums but will not have amnio.  I have my big us on Friday.

Congrats on your beautiful little boy.

Congratulations.  My son's heartbeat was in the 160's, do I agree that heartbeats are a myth.  This time the heartbeat is in the 150's and I am not even guessing.  I have my big u/s on Thursday.  I am only 30, but had a scare with my AFP test.  It ended up being fine after they adjusted my due date, but I am still anxious about my u/s.  I can't wait.  I don't care at all about the sex I just want to see a healthy active baby in there!  My son, however, is going to be very disappointed if he doesn't get a baby sister.  My husband and I are trying to get him excited about the possibility of a brother, but he doesn't want to talk about it!

all the myths said i was having a girl. all the chinese calculators said i am having a girl. and i just found out.... I'm having a GIRL!!!! i am very excited because i have been telling everyone it's a girl :)   and everything looked healthy and measured great. i had a wonderful tech who would not give up (baby was being shy at first). then, after she did all of her measurements, she couldn't get a good profile pic of the baby for us to take home. so she had me walk around for 20 minutes then she tried again (it worked). i was so happy she went above and beyond, in my opinion.

Our tech was great too.  I am so glad that all went well for you too.  Chinese calendar said my first two would be girls.  They were boy's.  I don't know about this one, I haven't checked what the calendar said.  It's still fun.  I am carrying this boy like a basketball all out to the front just like my other boy's.
