Heating pads.....this may be a STUPID question

So, my back has been killing me for the last week (20 weeks preggo) and I started using a heating pad.  When it starts getting warm and my back feels better I notice the little one is alot more active.  I know you're not supposed to take really hot baths ect, so does the heat from the heating pad cause problems with the baby?  Is that too much heat near the baby?  I'm sorry if this sounds stupid, I just know nothing about babies and pregnancy!

Thanks ladies,

April

i considered using one with my first pregnancy when i was about 18 weeks and i asked my doc and he told me no. If i were you, i would call your doctor and ok it with them , becuase every doctor is different! good luck! :)

Hmmmm - good question - I remember when my sister in law was pregnant her doctor told her not to use an electric blanket - course that was nearly eighteen years ago - if I were you - you are paying a doctor good money - take advantage of that and give them a ring and just ask - might ask as well about Flex All - Deep Heat etc topical ointments that produce a sense of heat to loosen muscles - let us know what you find out

Hi Ladies,

Thanks so much for the replies!  I had a dr appointment today and asked her. She said it was ok for certain periods of time less than  an hour and to keep the setting low.
