Heavy Bleeding - Miscariage?

by SusieQ1, Mar 11, 2003 12:00AM
Well, after I confirmed I was 5 weeks pregnant, I started bleeding yesterday at 12:00pm and it hasn't stopped. I went to the doctor they took blood and said they couldn't be sure about a miscarriage until they get the results back, but, it doen't look good.

From your experiences, does continued bleeding generally result in a miscarriage? I'm sad.

Are you having heavy bleeding with clots?  How many pads do you fill in an hour?  Not all bleeding in the first trimester means a m/c.  I have had bleeding also and everything looks okay so far.  I hope you keep us posted on what is happening.  Let us know okay?  Keep up the faith dear even though all hope seems gone. :o)

I had bleeding at 7 weeks of pregnancy (I did go on to deliver a healthy baby).  The bleeding was a blood clot - completely harmless.  As said before, not all bleeding means a miscarriage!  Good luck!

I had bleeding with a pregnancy and was told I had a miscarriage, but Hcg levels continued to rise.  I ended up having a tubal pregnancy with no pain until my tube ruptured.  Have they seen anything on the untrasound?

I am 7 weeks pregnant right now. I am wondering the same thing. I have heavy clotting and going through 3 pads a day. My doctor says i need to rest if i want the baby to have a chance. I am so sad i don't want to miscarry. let me know what is happening to you i think we are going through the same thing

Just thought I'd join the comments, since I'm going through something similar.  I hope you will let us know how things turn out.  I am at 8+ weeks, and started bleeding last Thursday afternoon.  I was able to get into my dr's office the next morning.  The embryo looked good, and had a good gestational sac and a strong heartbeat.  My cervix wasn't "actively" bleeding, although there still seemed to be a lot of blood to me, and hormone tests revealed my progesterone at 8.4.  I started on progesterone suppositories that afternoon, and continued bleeding through the weekend, going through 4-5 panty liners a day, with not really cramping, but a dull pain in my abdomen.  I have no pain today, but I feel less bloated.  The bleeding has slowed down quite a bit, but it's still there.  I go back in tomorrow at noon, and I'm so scared of what we're going to find.  I've tried to come to peace with the possibilities over the weekend.  Reading everyone else's stories and experiences has been a big help.
