Hello to Dolchina, AnnieBrook, Harley and all the others

Hello ladies,
it has been a while since I posted last and I saw a few of you on here today, so I  wanted to say hello...HELLO!

How are you ladies doing and most importantly, how are your little onces doing?

Veronika turned 6 months on Tuesday and she is lots of work. She has a horrible sleeping pattern during the night, so DH and I are exhausted, but other then that, she is a JOY. She is so big...18.9lbs and and can barely fit any 9months clothes. Still breastfeeding full time, but she started eating cereal at night 2 weeks ago and I am slowly starting introducing her to stage 1 baby food. I am actually taking her overseas on the 10th of July, so if any one of you have an advise, please feel free.

Let me know how are you girls doing! Love to hear from you!

Hello to you too.  I haven't heard from you for a while.  Time sure flies.  Gavin will be 8 months next week.  I quit BF a month ago.
They just up my dosage on Zoloft.  I have had a very hard time.
I think my parents have decided to go home late this year, early next year.

Ooh la la, petanka, overseas!  You have a more courage than I do.  :)  One thing I learned when planning to travel with my baby was that it is a good idea to have a Xerox of their birth certificate somewhere in your baggage, along with the passport.  How did you manage to get a passport with all the backup in the passport department?  (Or did you need one?  I can't remember if the rules are in effect yet about this, for babies.)

My son Augustus (Augie) is nearly six months and at last weigh-in (late May) was 17 1/2 lbs., and he is in 9-month clothes for sure.  If I make a mistake and put him into a 6-month onesie, if I can even sausage him into it, he looks like a hilarious little tough weightlifter with bulging arms and Michelin Man legs.  He's not sleeping all night, but since I breastfeed at night and he sleeps in a bassinet our room, it's a pretty simple matter to tuck him in beside me and conk out while he latches on.  He's getting to the point where he understands a few words and also where he gets some jokes (Mommy putting a bow from a present on her nose the other day got big yuks).

Glad to hear from you and that everything is going so well with your little peach!

Annie

that is great about your parents. I am still having Veronika at work, but withouth my co-workers it would be too much. Also, my hubby  helps 2 hours here and there when he is in town. Believe me, I feel like quiting sometimes too, but it is just so convenient right now. But 7 months is long ENOUGH! Is Gavin crilling yet? Sitting up? Do you have any latest pix?

Oops, when I wrote "he's not sleeping all night" I meant he's not sleeping through the whole night, not that he's not sleeping whatsoever at night!  THAT would be awful!

Hey girl, we got her passport in mid May and it came back within 10 days. The trick is to put the date you are traveling and  they skip all the other onces. I know, I am a bit worried about the flight since I am flying with her alone, but I have chosen direct flight and am requesting bassinet. Also, benedryl may take a place and I am flying at night as well, so going there should be a smooth ride. Going back may be a different story! By the way, Veronika is not sitting up on her own yet, but she is starting to crawl. Anyone of you had that happening? Sleeping is a complete disaster. She is up at least 3 times a night and she does not sleep between 3-5 am and then is completely up at 6:30am! Enjoy your sleep.

Ask your doc for an emergency kit for yourself and Veronika.
I plan on taking Gavin overseas next Fall.
Do you have an email I can send pics and msg to?  I don't like posting on Yahoo anymore, too many junk emails.

Oh yeah, sitting up, standing, 3 teeth, etc.  Saying Dada!  So cute!  I think he will skip crawling.

Cute pictures! Yes now that she can roll into them it would be wise to remove them all together, I think suffocation is the risk when they roll into them.

I think before or around 6 months.  I am not good at documenting things...
They are so cute!  IThe first one was hard, he was real fussy but after that, it's piece of cake.  He sleeps all night and he is still in our room.  Oh well, I don't mind.
Good idea, I will email you...it's better since I am not on here everyday.

Hey girls! Glad to hear all is well with you all and your babies.
Sam is six months next week, he is still a a big lad too, about 18lbs I would say but he hasn't had a weigh in for a while. He is rolling, almost sitting up and getting up on his kness in a rather strange attempt to crawl.
I look in on med help most days. Shame about the yahoo site, it was good to post pics and stuff but you guys are right it seems to get full of spam these days. I think I will take my pics off.

Here's my email if any of you want to keep in touch...

Good to hear from you as well. It sounds like Sam does exactly the same stuff as Veronika. She is actually getting on her knees quiet bit and trying to move forward this really funny/weird way. I hope she will take her time. I am not looking forward chasing her all over my office.

Question to all of you. Veronika loves to sleep flat on her belly and no matter what I do, I just can not get her to sleep on her back. What should I do? If I roll her over on her back, she rolls back in just a second and gets irritated. Do I need to worry?

I read that after five months if they can roll both ways it is fine to let them sleep on their tummy, just make sure you take all the other SID's precautions; no bumpers, pillows, soft toys, loose covers. etc.... Sam sometimes rolls over and sleeps on his tummy too, I always put him down to sleep on his back but if he rolls over I just leave him, I have him in a sleep sack thing so no loose covers to worry about, although he does like to have a small soft blankie to rub on his face... too cute!

Hey, thanks so much for the advise. Quick question. When you mention no bumpers, did you mean none of the bumpers going around the crib? I have that if you look at this link, you can see what I mean. Should I take it out on the side she sleeps at? In the pix she is on her side, but most of the time, she sleeps flat on her tummy.

Thanks

The SIDS concern is suffocation by the face getting pressed into the bumper itself, and also something called carbon dioxide pooling, where the baby breathes his own exhaled air to the point where there isn't enough oxygen in it.  So off come the bumpers. :) If you are concerned about the baby getting a hand stuck through the rails (some people are concerned about this) one of the kinds of replacement bumper you can get is made of that netting like they make playyard sides from.  I just used Augie's crib bumper for a dust ruffle on the (adult) daybed in Augie's room and left the crib without one.
