Help!! 6 week old (preemie) started crying hard after eating

I'm hoping to get some help...  my newborn is now 6 weeks old and was born at 35 1/2 weeks. She started off great but now, within the last 2 weeks has started crying very hard after eating. I'm nursing and supplementing with formula. We are using a formula for sensitive tummies and gas. It seems to be getting worse and I just don't know what to do. She seems like she's in SO much pain. I'm using the mylicon drops and I just don't know if I'm missing something or if there could be a bigger problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated

maybe try a non dairy formula, soy or goats milk as some babies have a hard time with lactose or milk based formulas. otherwise go and see your pediatrician, my sister had the same problem her daughter was screaming in pain and it had come to have a dairy intolerance and the only thing that has helped was goats milk.. good luck

Do you burp her often?

Do you notice it no matter when she eats, or is it only when she has formula/breastmilk. Lactose intolerance is really rare in newborn babies, but does happen on occasion. (more doctors will just say they're lactose intolerant vs finding the real cause) I noticed on the few occasions my daughter had formula she would scream afterwards and it was just because it was too rough on her belly. If it happens no matter what she eats, it could be she has too much air in her belly. Try burping frequently and keep her upright after she eats for 30 minutes. Does she spit up or projectile vomit at all in addition to the screaming, or pull her legs to her chest?

Thanks for all the responses.

The hard thing is that it varies. She cries after eating breast milk and formula. we're using the formula for sensitive stomachs to reduce gas and fussiness but guess it's not really working. trying to keep her upright now - may be helping not sure yet. She also spits up but not all the time... it's a puzzle to us. She does pull her legs up when she screams and usually before the crying.

Has she been checked for reflux at all? I've heard it's a lot more common in a preemie and might explain why she cries. Does she drink the formula/breastmilk really fast? If so that might be another indication of reflux since they do that to soothe their throats.
