Do I count from the 1st day or my period or the last day??? My last cycle stared on 1/14/07 so I would ovulate on the 27 or 31st??...Also how long is ovulation ?? days or just 1 day??..I know Im confused but Im so new at this...sorry.

You count from the first day of your period.  My doc says (in a 28 day cycle) you ovulate between days 10-14.  I have also been told that you have 2 days in which you can get preg during ovulation.  If I am wrong, ladies, please correct me.  Hope this helps

You should count the day you started as day one. :) Wishing you lots of baby dust*************

Hi there,

You always count your cycle from the 1st day of your last period. So the first day you bleed is counted as day 1 of your cycle. Most women ovulate between day 11-15 but it does vary. You can go to www.babycenter.com, they have an ovulation calendar. You can also buy a ovulator predictor at the pharmacy that you pee on to show you when you will be ovulating. I believe you have a window of about 24 hours around ovulation to get pregnant. Something around that anyway :-)

good luck!

Yes, count the first day as day one. Pay attention to CM. It will be stretchy and clear, like egg whites. Start now, BD every other day, or even every day until you know you are done ovulating. Use OPK's if you want so you know for sure. Have fun and good luck!! BABY DUST!!!

Count from first day of your period.  Just start having sex every other day from the 8th.  BD 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 , 18, and hoopefully you will get your BFP soon!

Contrary to popular belief you do not neccessarily ovulate 14 days from the first day of your last period. You ovulate 14 days before the strat of your next one. And even this is just approximate. Not everyone has the same cycle length. Some people are 30 days some 26 - that varies. The only way to know for sure is to measure some things that ARE certain. And that is your temps, and your CM (cervical mucous). This may not help you to figure out where you are now. But for future if you are not PG now, it is something to watch.

You can use sites like:

www.mymonthlycycles.com    & www.fertilityfriend.com

to watch and measure these things.

Hope this helps.

**ooops start (sp) - from last post....

Also ovulation is a "one day event" so you need to be BD'ing the couple days before it, the day of, and perhaps the day after just for good measure.

Sperm can live up to 5 days but the egg only 24 hours. So that is why you would want to start before the big "O" .... so they can be present when the egg comes. Once you have already ovulated is too late.
