Help with my toddler Please!

Help with my toddler Please!

Ok so Allie is 18 months old. I put her in a toddler bed last weekend. She did fine for 3 days. Slept all night. Then Monday came.... ugh. She woke up in the middle of the night and wouldnt go back to sleep. I tried everything. She wanted me to hold her. Finally I couldnt stay awake any longer and at about 4am I put the mattress in her crib and put her in there. She cried for a few mins and went to sleep.
Then Tuesday came!!! She did the same exact thing.
Once I put her in the crib last night she didn't even cry, went straight to sleep.
She doesnt have a problem going to sleep in her toddler bed, its just when she wakes up in the middle of the night. I don't get it.
Is she not ready for a toddler bed yet? Should I back off and try again in a month or two? Should I just go ahead and buy the new baby a crib and just scratch the toddler bed idea for a while? What do you ladies think? I am 23 1/2wks pregnant I am already losing energy as I get close to the 3rd trimester and am sooooo tired. My husband has to get up everyday at 4am so he doesn't have the time or energy at night to deal with her.
Any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks.

I would wait it out.  She may be too young for that adjustment.  If she's comfortable still sleeping in the crib put her there.  I'm not sure what age is appropriate to switch from crib to toddler bed.  I think 18 months may be too soon.

do you have a cradle or bassinet to use for the new baby?  that way the rest of your pregnancy plus the first few months after the baby is born will give your dd a little more time...

My pediatrician said as long as Quinn was not attempting to get out of her crib she can sleep in it until she is 3.  I do not think your little one is ready at this point to be in a toddler bed.  I would allow her to remain in her crib and give it a try again in a few months.  Some transition to the toddler bed early and easily others need a little more time.

You all are probably right. I got a lot of mixed reviews about her going into a toddler bed, many people said go ahead and do it. I got a toddler bed free so I thought we'd try. I think maybe we will keep her in her crib for a bit longer. She is still young. I don't have a bassinet yet, but am getting one probably this weekend. So yes we will have one for the first few months. Maybe I will try again when shes 2 or so.

DL- I am going through the same transition with Noah, he is a few months older than Allie and it takes a while. He did great for a couple nights and then started doing the same thing that you are describing. We even started bringing him into out bed because he seemed so scared but we realized quickly that it was a HORRIBLE habit to start. I decided to give up for a week and then try again. This past week we started putting him back in his toddler bed at night and he has been doing GREAT knock on wood. He still sleeps in his crib at nap time since he hates going down for a nap and I don't have the patience to fight with him for hours when he should be napping. Some nights Noah points to his crib but I tell him No, at bed time you need to go in your bed and he gets over it.
I would give her some time and then try again, she will eventually be excited about it.

I too would hold off.  My dtr. transitioned at 25 months with no problems.
