Herbal tea-is it okay to drink?

Herbal tea-is it okay to drink?

Is it okay to drink a herbal tea?  This one I have has rosehips and hibiscus in it....it is the Celestial caffeine free tea.

I have it in front of me and for the life of me, won't drink it now because I am unsure!

I am almost 7 wks.

I was gonna ask this exact question! I'm so glad you did! I figured, can't drink caffeine so herbal tea would have to do then I read on a site that said herbal tea is a no no. So I dunno what to drink, I have had hot cocoa just to warm myself up lately!

No its not ok to drink to herbal teas. They can have a detoxifying effect and make you pass all your nutrients out. You cant afford to do that when your carrying a baby. Your not even allowed to drink while breastfeeding. I didnt know this until i went to a chinese herbalist and they warned me against it!

My doctor told me that it's better to have one 8 oz. class of tea (I drink iced) or pop with caffiene in it than to have herbal tea for the reasons the person above posted. :)

Its not the fact that they have caffeine in them that makes them bad. Some herbal teas are quite potent and will flush your system of toxins as well as the good stuff our body needs to nourish our baby. Im sure there are some safe teas for us to drink.. you just have to get the ok from the herbalist. But for now dont drink any teas your not sure about.

I agree -- best to get advice from your ob...some teas may have harmful effects.

Did anyone see the story in the last week or so that caffeine is NOT harmful in pregnancy.  All the harmful effects -- low birth weight, early delivery, etc. were debunked by scientific study.

Not advocating it -- there always seems to be some part of the story missing, just wondered if anyone else saw it.

I don't know what to think on this....My girlfriend drank like half a gallon of iced tea with both her girls and coke her whole pregnancy....

I can't have caffeine anyway pregnant or not b/c of my blood clotting disorder....

Now I'm just wondering what I can have....I love my coffee....warm coffee in a cold office..

I love coffee for the taste not the caffeine....now I can't have my peppermint green tea....anything safe hot?

no cocoa....caffeine!!!! ugghh
