High HCG Levels

I'm prego and just received a call from the nurse. She indicated that my blood work from Monday which should be week 5/ 2 or 3 days showed abnormally high hcg level - 22152.  I'm supposed to have more blood work tomorrow.  What does this mean.

Had a u/s yesterday it confirmed a sac in the uterus but didn't show any heart activity.  U/S was not vaginal.

Should I be worried?

What could abnormally high hcg levels mean?

I believe that means that it could be twins!!!!

It could also mean a lab error.  Ladies on this forum have written in about getting them.

this happened to my girlfriend. she only had one. but her levels were so high, they weren't sure what was going on. let us know what happens. i am curious!

UPDATE  - My hcg blood levels had doubled today so they are now in th 44000 range.

We did an updated u/s and they found heart beat.  Said baby measures 5 weeks 6 days.  I'm still a little worried about the HCG levels being high.

Did anyone else have this high of hcg level at 5 wk 6 days?

No evidence of twins at this time.  Would they be able to tell?

I am going through something similar right now myself.  At 4 weeks, my HCG was 863, when it was supposed to be around 300-400.  Is this something to be concerned about?  Have others had similar levels with healthy pregnancies?  Thanks.
