My question is that i have recently had a nuchal scan atg 12 weeks and my report has come back.
It says that the Beta HCG level is 170.1 IU/I equivalent to 4.449 MoM which is above the normalNormal saline flush value and will need to monitor the growth of the baby.
No other explanations were given, so i am totally in the dark. All i know is that i have had quite bad sickness this time (which explains that the levels were higher than in my last pregnancy), but on trying to do my own research i cannot find a conversionConversion disorder of the IU/I or MoM - it's all in MIU.
So for instance it says that the normalNormal saline flush level between 9-12 weeks is 228 MIU - so i do not know what that is in IU/I or MoM.
And secondly how would this level effect the growth of the baby? does it mean that it would be smaller or larger? Apparently my risk of down syndrome is 1 in 900 so is low risk (but i've read that high levels of HCG could indicate a downs baby.
I would be ever so grateful if you could shed some light on this for me, as i can't help but be a bit concerned, i don't understand why these reports are not more self explanatory.
hi,im 14 weeks pregnant and i had my 12 weeks scan with blood testing for downs a couple of weeks ago.the midwife called me to say the downs result was low risk but one of my hormone levels were high, she said it was the hcg and that it had something to do with the placentaAnatomy of a normal placenta Placenta Placenta abruptio Placenta previa Ultrasound, normal placenta - braxton hicks Ultrasound, normal relaxed placenta, she told me i need growth scans as having high hcg levels could indicate a small baby?but she also said it could be nothing to worry about and that it could just be me.she also said that its a new thing they are doing and not alot of hospitals are doing it.i dont really understand it and would also like a bit of info on it,just thought id tell u all i know.
