High hcg numbers

Hi. I am currently 5 weeks 6 days pregnant.  I had some slight spotting, so the Dr did an HCG test and then an ultrasound two days later.  My first HCG number was 33,000!  From what ive read, for 5 weeks that is really high!  The ultrasound showed a baby with a beating heart and everything looked normal.  From the size of the embryo, it is right on schedule saying it was 5 weeks 5 days.  Just wondering if anyone has had numbers this high.  The Dr's didnt seem too concerned other than doing the ultrasound asap, I think they were concerned about a molar or ectopic pregnancy (at least thats what the ultrasound lady said) So since its not anything like that,just wondering.  I get my results from my second hcg test on Monday.  I also just read something about Downs syndrome babies having really high Hcg numbers.  Any thoughts would be appreciated! Because you're so close to being 6 weeks, your numbers sound fine. This is a chart of average numbers and weeks of pregnancy. In early pregnancy, just a few days can make a world of difference.
