Hiya
Sounds perfectly normalNormal saline flush unfortunately - the sore throat is where they put a tube down your throat to take over your breathing and you are probably very sore all over because while you are under anaesthetic, they really are like butchers with a lump of meat and tend to chuck you round and hold you tightly so naturally afterwards you will be very achy!! I have had several operations on my hips and also been in for a DandC as well so unfortunately know what I am talking about.... hopefully after a few days you should be feeling a lot easier - try taking paracetamol or muscle relaxants which may help - also a nice hot bath feels good. All the best and hope you are feeling a lot better in a few days
I also had a d&c yesterday I have the sore throat and hurts a little to take a deep breath because of the tube.I have very minimal spotting but today feel a little bit more cramping and bloating they gave me vicodin to take so took some last night and sleep very well, today have been taking the ibuprofen 600mg they prescribed. I still get a little woozy and light headed though.
I work in an operating room and unfortuanately do a ton of d/c's. It is normal to have mild throat pain after being intubated, however, I don't think the neck/ shoulder pain is related at all. You are put in stirrups like the dr's office after you're asleep and usually (you may remember) on a padded OR table. The procedure itself takes about 5-8 mins- that's it...so you're not in any unusual position at all! Honestly, I bet it was from the stress of it all. I carry it all in my shoulders and neck and after an especially trying period, I definitely feel it (massage feels best). If it doesn't subside, call your MD.
Shoulder pain is "referred pain" from your uterus. There's some kind of neuro connection between your shoulders and your uterus - shoulder pain is a red flag symptom of an ectopic pregnancy. When I had my c-sections my shoulders ACHED when they were working on my uterus, even though I had an epidural. Ouch it felt like all the muscles in my shoulders cramped!
