Home Fertility Tests

Hello everyone, i was wandering if anybody has taken a home fertility test before and if they are accurate? ive ordered one from a web site, ive only been TTC properly for 3 months now but i always have that feeling that i cant have children, i have irregular periods i know it sounds silly but i dont want to wait a year of trying before a doctor can do tests at least this way i can go to the doctors straight away. some advice would be much appreciated. :-)

What is it supposed to test for?  I've never heard of this.  Are you charting or using OPKs?  BBT charting can tell you a lot.  I know that 3 months may feel long, but most couples take 6 months to a year so hang in there.  Odds are good that everything is fine.

I used them. I got Clearblue Easy. We started ttc in Sept. and I got pregnant on Christmas Eve! :D

Its callled BioCheck and this is what it says about it: Contains two screening tests to detect raised levels of Follicle Stimulating Hormone(FSH) in urine. The fertility test should be used by women to determine if their level of FSH may be reducing their ability to conceive. If both tests are positive, medical advice should be sought if trying to get pregnant.

Im not charting or anything because my periods are different every month and i never know when its the right to try so i figure if we try every other day im bound to hit the right time, the reason ive bought this test is just to put my mind at rest.

How irregular is your cycle?  Any chance that you are a candidate for PCOS?  I had a slightly irregular cycle too, but after charting learned that I was still Oing regularly.  You are right about BDing every other day.  Some fertility clinic in CA did a study and they found that charting and OPKs don't really increase your odds as long as you are BDing 2-3 times a week. I'm a real Type-A personality though so I still had to chart! LOL.

First off, I'm so sorry you had a m/c.  I'm sure that was very hard on you. Every 30-36 days is still in the normal range, so that's good.  I'm guessing you probably O anywhere around CD 16- 22.  Some people say that late O may interfere with being able to conceive b/c it has taken the egg too long to mature and thus, is probably not a "good egg".  BUT, some say as long as you are Oing everything should be fine.  I had longer cycles too and there are things you can try to get O to come earlier.  Vitex is an herb you can take that helps with O.  Personally, I tried that and acupuncture.  And the cycle that I conceived in I tried lunaception, which is using the light to manipulate your cycle.  I guess it worked!  Anyway, before you start any of those things you should try BBT charting for a few cycles.  Get yourself a copy of "Taking Charge of Your Fertility".  It's a great book and it will explain EVERYTHING!  Best of luck to you.
