Honey

Honey

This may sound like a stupid question but can you eat honey while you are pregnant?  I know your child should not eat honey until after the age of two.  So if they can't eat it after they are born because it will hurt them can you eat it while you are pregnant without hurting them?

Both the Doctors with both of my other kids.  They both had different Doctors and both told me the same thing after they were born.

I just found this.  They say age one on honey.

DO NOT add honey to your baby's food, water or formula.
DO NOT dip your baby's pacifier in honey.
DO NOT give your baby honey as medicine.

Honey may contain Clostridium botulinum spores that can cause infant botulism - a rare but serious disease that affects the nervous system of young babies (under one year of age). C. botulinum spores are present throughout the environment and may be found in dust, soil and improperly canned foods. Adults and children over one year of age are routinely exposed to, but not normally affected by, C. botulinum spores.

I just did a little research and found an article about honey with babies and pregnancy.  They say it is safe for pregnant women to eat honey but no babies under the age of one.  Guess the Doctors told me age two just to be safe.

I am 14 weeks, and I like to put honey on my PB sandwich.  Never read anything about not eating honey while you are pregger.

Hi,
I wondered this too when I was prego before my m/c. I researched it and they said you CAN eat it when prego. ***** can't have it b/c it can have botulism in it and their new digestive systems can't handle it, but ours can.  They actually suggest honey b/c it has something in it that helps your immune system....
So eat your pb and honey sandwiches and enjoy!:)
