How accurate is gender at 13 wk US??

How accurate is gender at 13 wk US??

At my first trimester screen, the ultrasound tech said the twins are a boy and a girl. She didn't say how sure she was, but I had asked if she could tell.

Anyone else found out that early? I'm just curious, and will be happy with whatever they end up being. If you found out early, how right was it?

The other thing was that the "girl" HB was actually slower like 150, and the "boy" was 170. ??

Well, I was told at 13 weeks that it was a boy.  At my 20 week sonogram they said, yes, definately a boy.

Congrats on the twins.

hi congrats !!  At 13 weeks is far enough to tell the gender !  I am a Peds nurse, and it's the norm. now to know the sex of the baby at least by week 20. !!

I'm having a girl and her hearbeat was about 150-155 around that time.  Now it's about 145.  Everyone I know that has had boys, their heartrate has been higher.

I had my 12w scan last week and doctor "suspects" a boy - he didn't confirm, but I figure he wouldn't have opened his mouth if didn't think it was really a boy......so we'll wait for 18 week scan to confirm!

did you go off the met yet?  I tapered down last week to 1000mg/day and last night was my last pill.  Now I wait until Monday for my 3 hour glucose test and back to doctor on Wednesday.  I tested my sugar at home yesterday and today and it was 100 and 113 - so I'm afraid it is creaping up already!

Oh a boy how exciting! I guess we'll have to wait to really know, but I've gotten kind of excited about having a boy and a girl.. My 18 wk scan is Jan 7th.

I haven't gone off of it. I found a liquid form, much easier to get down for me. I'm only taking 500mg per day, in the middle of the day with lunch usually. I actually test my blood sugars at home every day (my mom's a diabetic nurse and got me supplies), and they seem to have gotten lower being pregnant. The 500 seems to be plenty right now, when I've taken even 1000, my blood sugar won't come back up from 80 and I feel dizzy and weird. My OB said I could stop, but I'm not. I don't want to end up with gest diabetes if I can help it and I'm too paranoid!! were those numbers fasting, like in the morning or just random, if they are random they sound really good, mine would go as high as 146 or so after eating.

no, those were my fasting numbers.  I have a kit at home so I test randomly throughout the week first thing in the morning just to see how I'm doing.  Before the met, I was usually in the 100-110 range (fasting), during the met I was averaging closer to 90-100 most days (unless I had high carb foods late the night before), again fasting.  So I was borderline diabetic to start off with and the met really helped (my insulin went from 31 to 22 on it also!).  I'm just worried now that I've cut down the met that my sugar and insulin are both going to start going up fast.  I gained like 3 pounds in the last 5 days too, which scares me since it coinsides with cutting down the met.  I hope my 3 hour test comes back ok or I'll have to beg to back on the met - I don't want to have to do insulin shots, especially since my insulin is high in the first place, it just doesn't make sense to me to do that.  My problem is high insulin, not really high sugar.  I'm insulin resistant, so my body doesn't use it right and creates more and more insulin in an attempt to control my sugar.  I guess I'll just have to see what happens next week........

Yeah, my numbers ran pretty similar to yours, though like I said now they are pretty good on just 500. That's how I feel about the insulin too, if there's too much to begin with, why give me more? It doesn't seem good for the baby, but I guess really high blood sugars are worse. I think unless your blood sugars got pretty bad, they wouldn't put you on insulin. My OB assures me that stopping it now wouldn't cause a miscarriage, but I don't buy it. I seem to be getting more afraid of things going wrong the further along I get. I worry every day, but luckily I have the heartbeat doppler to listen each day for reassurance. But even with that, I worry when I don't gain weight and that my tummy's not growing enough. It's ridiculous!

13 weeks my high risk obgyn was able to detect my boy. I forget which it is, but at 13 weeks the penis or vagina looks similar. The "stump" between the legs is either a clitoris or penis. My obgyn said he guesses gender on how the "stump" is pointing. That being up or down (I hate to use stump, but guess that is what it looks like).
