How do I find out if my 2 year old is being drugged?

How do I find out if my 2 year old is being drugged?

My wife and I suspect something is up with our sitter. On the weekends our twins rarely nap, but when we drop in on the sitter or call during the day it seems they are always sleeping.  I want to know how to test to see if our kids are being drugged so they sleep.  It would absolutely shock me if that was going on, but something has to be up.

I would contact the kids Dr.     Also, if it were my child and I thought something was "up"" my kids would no longer be in that daycare.

They have been going there since they were 8 weeks old, and up until recently our sitter has been unbelievably great....we just realized today something has to be up, so I want to see what I can do to prove something is going on...I have spent the entire day looking for alternatives...they will not be there for long...trust me

Frankly, I wouldn't wait even one more day, whether or not it means one of you has to stay home from work for a couple of days in order to find other care.

If you do find evidence of a narcotic in their system, their hair can be analyzed to find out how long it has been going on (for the purposes of a criminal prosecution).

Oh heavens how scary...  I agree, keep those kids away until you can prove it one way or another. What if she is doing that and gives them too much and one of the twins becomes seriously ill or dies from an overdose.

I have a friend who's son sleeps way better at day care b/c he's much more stimulated and therefore gets more tired...

if you feel something is wrong than do whatever you need to do. I agree with Diane1003 because sometime when the kids get to play more than they regular do, they get tired.

Just the fact that you are thinking something might be going on is enough to keep the kids away from the babysitter. Discuss it with their doctor and maybe he can run test to see if there is anything in their system.

If the babysitting is done in your home, you can also put in nanny cams in the different rooms so you can watch what is going on, but personally, I wouldn't even take that chance of waiting one more day.

Maybe something is up. But my son never ever naps at home and hasn't done for a good six months yet at daycare he sleeps for a good hour or more. For him the extra activity and the routine of napping with all the other kids means he has a good nap there.
Keep them away for a few days and ask your children's doctor if he can test them.

Oh and a two years old most children do still nap for a good amount during the day so them napping a few hours a day would not seem out of the ordinary.

I agree that if you have any suspicions or concerns, then you should not send them anymore.

However, I do have to say that every year I have several children in my class who never nap at home but will nap for 1-2 hours at school. The parents are always so baffled. We're a public school, so I can guarantee there is no drugging going on! They key is keeping the kids extra busy in the morning. But even more important is routine and discipline. If there is no question about whether or not there is nap, and when it is nap time, then often the kids go to sleep. And these kids are 4 and 5 years old! When I had a 2 yr old class, or even a 3 yr old class, it was very rare that I had a kid who didn't nap anymore. Maybe 1 out of 15 kids didn't sleep.
My 2 1/2 yr old is still taking 2-3 hour naps.
