I'm thinking about asking my dr. about being induced a couple days before my due date. My husband will be away training for a new job and have about a week off around the time the baby is due. I thought that if we could schedule the birth the day after he gets home then we will for sure know he will be home (for the birth) and get to spend as much time as possible. I just heard it's much harder on the mom & baby. Keep in mind, only a couple of days before my due date.
Thanks
Just found out that DH might have a lapse in ins coverage at the end of the year and my baby is due 1-8-07. I am def going to see if I can get induced the last week of Dec. I figure if they want to get paid they will do it. As long as baby is fully cooked and healthy I do not see why they would tell me no.
I was induced with 3 of my four kids, and the difference in contractions was like night and day.Pitocin contractions are ALOT stronger and more frequent than natural contractions.I managed to go natural with my son [no pitocin or meds],but with my girls I needed the epidural with there pitocin induced labors.I hope with this one [due in exactly a month from now],I can go into labor naturally.
I was induced with 3 out of 5 of my babies. There was really not much difference except the contractions are harder and faster. If you are getting an epidural then there really isn't a difference.
I went without an epidural with 3 of mine and the ones where I was induced were definitely more painful.
Every doctor is different. I have had some that will not induce early and some that have no problem with it.
I went in the day before my due date with my first, my doctor asked how I felt about being induced, I was like, definetly! He wanted to induce me so he could be the delivering doctor, as I requested. I ended up having my water break so I didn't need induced, but was going too.
With my 2nd, I went in a day before my due date as well, and he asked if I wanted induced since I hadn't dialated... oh, I wasn't dialated at all with my first either. I said yes, once again, and went in the very next morning with all my stuff, and got induced. I'm glad I did, otherwise my DD would have been huge! LOL
I think if you are OK with it and so is your doctor, because he should really have the final say, then do it!
My doctors office are not keen on induction and will let you go to 41 1/2 weeks if there are no complications--Oh I don't want to go that late! They also are not in favor of manually turning the baby if it is in breech--they said that 1. the cord could get wrapped around the neck 2. the baby can easily go right back to breech position after being turned so it does not always work.
Fortunately, my little one is still head down for now--who knows 5 weeks from now when I am due how she will be.
I was induced with my second child a week early. I had too much fluid. Well, I will never do it again unless I HAVE to. When he was born, his lungs were not fully developed. He was in the intensive care nursery for 10 days. They ambulanced him to a hospital 45 min - 1 hr away from my house. My husband was not able to get off, I had a 4 yo son and was not able to be with my baby. That is the worse feeling in the world. Not knowing whether your baby is going to live or not and not able to be there. I keep feeling that if I left him in until he was ready he would have been fine.
I had to be induced with both of my DS's, both a week over. They both ended up being over 8 1/2 lbs--so glad dr din't want to go any longer. The inductin process is fairly simple, it is the contractions as they start coming in closer and faster together. Where I live you do not get a epidural or spinal so you feel everything. I would ask the only thing the dr can say is no. but you will not know anything unless you do ask--good luck and enjoy your new little one when he/she arrives.
I was induced for timing reasons and endded up having a emergency c-section my body just wasnt ready. And i personally dont know anyone that was induced that had a natural childbirth
I was induced with my 2nd. He was due 5/5, went to see doc. when he was 3;7 days late and on that last visit I told her I wasnt leaving UNTIL she induced me. I hadnt slept in almost 48 hrs, his feet were all up in my rib cage and I was just miserable. I did get induced on that day (tues) and ended up having contractions that night. They were mild but got worse as time went on. I ended up having my son 5/15 (thurs) which yes..means I was having contractions for 3 days plus since I checked in the hospital around 3:30am and had him at 8:55pm. Best of luck to all and easy delivering!
I'm due on 1-5-07 and my doctor will be inducing me the end of December so I can catch a tax break!! So I would certainly think they would be willing to induce for insurance purposes. I mean, we're talking about a lot of money for you and the Dr! My Dr. just said he didn't want to induce any earlier than week 39. So looks like I'll be have a LATE December baby.
I was induced with both my boys, one was done a day after my EDD, the other was a week past it. Both were done for medical reasons. Keep in mind that unless your body is ready for it, it won't work.
The docs got so tired of my best friend's sisters complaining and bitching, they attempted to induce her, she spent all night and the next day getting cervadil (sp) and pit to no avail and was sent home. 5 days later, she went into labor on her own.
I, personally, I am not a fan of scheduling inductions for convenience. But to each their own.
I had to be induced 10 days early with my daughter. I would rather have gone on my own, because my body was not ready. I was not dialated or effeced at all. I was in labor for 23 hours, and it was very hard. If you choose it though, just make sure to get painkillers. I didn't want that either, but induced labor is soooooooooo painful. Good luck.
with my first child, i was in labor for 16 hours. with my second, i was induced on my due date, and my labor was only 3 hours long! the contractions were harder, but i had an epidural anyways. just make sure your cervix is ripe, you don't want to end up having a c-section. i was 3 cm, and having some contractions already...i would reccommend induction if your baby, and your body's ready
I was induced with dd at 41.5 weeks so that was the reason but I thought it was great. You can get the epidural immediately before ever having to experience labor pains and you can be better organized than if you go natural. Obviously, if your body's not ready for the induction, it's going to be a failed attempt which will end up with either you going home or a c-section. I'm hoping my doc won't let me go past due with this baby. Good luck!
I was induced with my DD and everything turned out to be perfect. She was two weeks early only b/c my blood pressure was too high and they didn't want to take any risks. But I went in around 1:30pm on Thursday and had her at 1:10am on Friday morning. I think that next time I will wait it out unless I have problems or don't want to have to worry about my husband being out of town like you. I would ask your doctor about it and see what he/she says. Before I started having high blood pressure my doctor and I had already talked about inducing b/c I was miserable and she wanted to wait until I was as close to the due date as possible...she said around 38 weeks and that is when I gave birth to her anyways!
It would be best if you could go into labour by yourself I was induced 3 times and wouldnt go into labour my body just wouldnt let the induction work and i ended up having a c section. I had a little booklet given to me bout induction and it can be faster and more painful labour and you have an increased chance it ended in a c section but in saying that you also have a good chance off it being a quick birth I guess you have a 50 50 chance good luck.
i was induced with both my dds i wouldent have it any other way its great yes more painful but quiker i did it without drugs the last time june this year ouches i will definatly ask to be induced with my 3rd if ever decide on another you should be 100% on the dates though you dont want an early baby by the way there was a reason for my inductions both my babies where near 9 lbs with my second being induced two weeks early she would have been massive at term yikes
