How long after birth should i expect AF? and OPEN FORUM. If needed.

Hello ladies!  It's been awhile since i've commented or posted....but i'm still around.  Isabella-Maria is almost 3 months now and doing well.  After she FINALLY started gaining weight it was like a bean sprout!  She's gained 4 lbs between her 2 wk and 2 month appts!  She's still so petite , though!

    Anyway, my question is about when to expect AF.  I breastfed for a month after she was born and then had to stop due to complications with my own health.  It's been almost 2 months since I stopped....and I'm not sure when to expect AF.  I would have thought she would be here by now.  But this is my first baby and wouldn't know from experience. I have a serious paranoia of getting pregnant right away like my sister did.  Because of problems with my health, caused be the pregnancy, i'm not able to take birth control.  And as for condoms...it doesn't work well for my DH.  So i've been trying to be as careful as possible given the situation. But I'm still REALLY worried!  My sister's baby was born with problems that the Dr. attributed to the closeness of the pregnancies.

Should i take a test?

Hi, I was exclusively breastfeeding and I believe it was 16 weeks when I got my first AF. It has been 6 mos since my dd has been born and we are going to try again this month!!

I exclusively breastfed and got my period 16 weeks post partum.  The most hilarious thing was that kellym and I got it on the same day :):)

I was exclusively breastfeeding, now I am weaning off my baby and I got my 1st postpartum AF last week.  SHE was a NASTY b****  too.....(LOL).I had my baby on Dec. 4th/06 so, about 14weeks +/-?  This was also my 3rd baby.

I didn't get my period until my son was 2 years old, crazy huh( I did breastfeed him unitl then)! Then I got pregnant my first cycle! And my friend never got a period just got pregnant again when her daughter was one year old. Sometimes it takes a while for your body to get back to normal.

You should take a test my af arrived 4 weeks after I stopped breastfeeding while I was breastfeeding I didnt get af but ive talked to people who bottle feed and they get af straight away so just to be on safe side and to put it out of your mind I'd take a test I got preg on condoms as soon as I stoped bfeeding but had a m/c good luck.

I still waiting on mine...had the baby jan15...did not breatfeed...had a tubal ligation but my dr. still did a preg test..neg as expected. He gave me some kind of hormone pill that is supposed to make me start...finished taking them yesterday...still nothing..still waiting....Good luck...I would go ahead and preg test.

I had my DD in Sept and haven't gotten a period yet.  It's been almost 7 months but I'm exclusively breast feeding.

I nursed my first one for 14 weeks and then I did not get a period until he was six months old.  Then was regualr for six months when I got pg with my second.

I went to the Dr. today for an ear infection and he had me take a test b/c i hadn't gotten my AF yet..and it was Neg.  Thanks again for all the info!
