How long after due date?

How long after due date?

Hey ladies! Just wondering what's the normal time frame that most doctors will let you go past your due date before inducing? I'll be 5 days past mine tomorrow. When I saw the doctor on Friday, he didn't mention anything about how long they'll let me go for.

I see my regular ob doctor tomorrow, so hopefully she'll give me some information, but until then I'd like to know. :)

i've never gone over myself, but my cousin just did...  her doctor told her that typically they can let you get up to 42 weeks as long as there are not any problems.  she got them to induce her on friday though...  she was 5 days past due.   good luck!!!

Im surprised you have never asked him..most woman want to know. But my doctor said no longer than a week past my DD. I was induced 4 days early(other reasons) but some doctors wait up until 2 wks after.

Well I never asked because I didn't think I would go over. And then my doctor went out of town a few days before my due date and just came back today, so she said she didn't want to have me go into labor before she got back.

The doctor I saw on Friday isn't my doctor, just backing up for her, and he said that they want me to wait until tomorrow to see my doctor and then she'll discuss it.

Most are not comfortable with you going beyond 41 weeks anymore.

I was a week and a half past due, they induced and it took 2 days.  He was a big boy!  The next one they induced a week early to avoid the size issue.  It'll be okay, just ask your Dr., I'm sure they won't let you go much longer, I bet this week if not tomorrow or the next day, hope you're packed!  Good luck!

Hmmm my mother was 44 weeks or something like that, maybe more, when they finally induced my first brother.  But that was years ago.  For me, I don't think I've ever gone past my due date... *thinks*  nope, haven't.

I think I went a week. Lets see here... I am having trouble remember if I was due the 5th or the 10th... I strongly believe it was the tenth. They induced me on the 15th. He wasn't planning on doing it that day, we were just discussing a day. But he was going to be out of town and I wanted him to be there to deliver since he had seen me through my whole pregnancy. So he called the hospital to see if the next day would work for them. They said no, but today works, so he asked how we felt about that. I didn't even have my things! But I was more then ready to have my baby out and in my arms! Not only that but I was really uncomfortable. Turns out he was breech, and for a whole month he had been shoving his head into my ribs as hard as he could and it got to where no matter how I shifted or he shifted it was still there and it was always bothering me and hurting. I bet I would have gone into labor that night though because the inducing was quick. No one thought it would start to work until the next day and it worked after a few hours and labor went FAST. It started at 11pm, then suddenly I am dialated to 8cm (went that whole way without meds haha). My son was born at 1:23 am. So yeah, FAST, lol.

P.S. 5 days seems even longer when you have premature labor and expect that must mean you will give birth early, and end up doing it late! (They gave me a shot to stop the premature labor... guess it really worked haha)

When I was over due for my son, my doctor let me go 2 weeks over. My son weighed 8 pounds 14 ounces and even though I was so far overdue he still was not ready to come out and it was quite a fiasco. I think the longest they will let you go is 2 weeks. My DH's grandmother was due for her daughter in the beginning of November and she didn't have her baby until the middle of December. CRAZY HUH how much things have changed?

Good luck and I hope that baby comes soon for you!!
