You are correctCorrect (new formula) and also I would like to add that as Christie has in the past that sometimes even when you have missed a period there still wont be enough HCG to detect right away, especially if you ovulated late in the prior cycle when you conceived. YOu can take a test as soon as you are late but to be sure and only have to test once sometimes it's best to wait until you are 1 to 2 weeks late. This will save you money in the long run (not buying so many tests!) I also think only a blood test could detect right after conception, not a HPT.
I had a blood test on 8-30 at the ER and they said I was not pregnant but on 9-11 @ my doctors office they said I was pregnant. Why is this? I had a CT @ the ER, will this hurt my baby?
Because the HCG hormone probably wasn't high enough to be detected on 8-30. If you are concerned about the tests you had hurting your baby ask your doctor.
Home pregnancy tests rely on levels of HCG (I think that's the right acronym)... This hormone isn't release until the fertilized egg implants in the uterine lining... This happens 7ish days past conception.
You'll also have to give enough time for the HCG levels to be high enough for detection...
So, it's best to wait until your period is expected for the early preg. tests..
This is just info I've gathered on my own.. So if Christie or someone more knowledgable finds an error- Please correct me.
