How many in their mid--late thirties?

How many in their mid--late thirties?

I know women hate to talk about their age, so you don't have to answer if you don't want to, but how many have had children in their mid to late thirties? I am 36, and just like to be reassured that it DOES happen! I was pregnant this past summer, but miscarried in Sep.:(
Also, tell me about other people you know besides yourself that had babies at this age. Did it take you (or others) a lot longer to get pregnant at this age?

I will be 36 in January. I started ttc at 33 and got pregnant within 2 months after having the pill for years. This summer I started ttc for the second one and got pregnant again after 2 months. Unfortunately I mc. I got pregnant straight away without an AF. hopefully this one goes well! I have a friend that got pregnant last year al 37 very easily and also, recently, doing my family tree, I found out that my grandma's drandad was born when his mum was 44 (6th child)! Imagine in those times (mid 1800s)!! And he was fine! Good luck

I know someone who is pregnant right now, who miscarried about 9 years ago. She didn't know she was pregnant this time until she was around 3 or 4 months...and she's 42 years old. She hadn't really been "trying"...it just happened. She's due in February, and having a boy.

I conceived at 25 & 28 within 1 month, I want more children.  Was trying for about 9 months, got pregnant at age 40 and had M/C Sept. 21, 2006.  I am now 41 and still trying.  Now that I am ttc later in life, I really notice how many older parents there are.  A lady at my doctor's office is 41.  She got married at 39 and decided to have more children.  Got pregnant with no problems.  I think it can be a little more difficult, but it is becoming more common.  Blessings!

I had my first at 33, second at 35, now at 43, am 17 weeks but did have two m/c's earlier this year.  Menopause at 36-38 the other poster mentioned is considered really early.  You are generally less fertile at that age and have more risk of birth defects but menopause is a ways off.  In my birth class in CA, no one was under 40. Most were professional women who had waited. I have heard over 10% of all babies are born to women over 40 (in US). Don't know about over 35, must be substantial.

I am so sorry for you loss.  I know how disappointing and heartbreaking it is.  I am 38 and at 8wk4d.  I had to do IVF twice.  1st m/c in March.  This time I was pregnant with twins but lost one.  I was never able to get pregnant on my own.  Had I known it would be so hard for me, I would have started alot younger.  Been married 12 years.  I have 2 friends that got pregnant with 1st at 38 and 39.  Both got pregnant again shortly after births.  One has Irish twins. Anything is possible!!!!  Good luck!!!

My 2 kids are now 4 yrs 5 mths and 2 yrs 8 mths.  I had them when I was 34 yrs 9 mths and 36.5 yrs old.  Just turned 39 in Sep and have been ttc since June 2005.  Conceived in late Nov 2005 and late Aug 2006, both of which ended in m/c (both missed m/c which required d&c) at about 9 weeks.  Having first AF now after the recent Oct d&c, and will be ttc this month.  Doc says should try again as the m/cs were just fluke bad luck.  I know of quite a number of people personally who had kids late 30s to mid 40s and all is well, both mother and baby.  Here goes :

1. This lady I got to know at the hospital when my younger was born more than 2 years ago, had her 4th and 5th kids at 42 and 45 years old respectively.  When she had her 5th kid 2 years ago (i.e. when I met her at the hospital), her 3 older kids were already 20, 17 and 14 years respectively, and of course her 4th kid was 3 yrs old.  Very beautiful baby boy she had, definitely normal and just bumped into her recently at the supermarket, boy's really cute.

2. One of my neighbours had her 3rd DD in late 2002 when she was 42 yrs old.  Her 2 older daughters were 20 and 17 yrs respectively when 3rd DD was born.

3. My department's secretary had her only child when she was 41 yrs old - she married late at 39 years old.  Her son is now 12 yrs old.

4. One of my colleagues had her 3 sons when she was 33 yrs, 37 yrs and 42 yrs.  Her youngest is now about 8 yrs old.

5. One lady I met at the gynae when I was expecting my eldest when I was 34 years old (I thought I was old to be expecting my first child at 34 years old).  She was expecting her first at 43 years old and was due to deliver soon when I met her.  Baby was normal and healthy as she had an amnio done and all was well.

6. This lady I got to know when my first child was born in 2002, when I called a breastfeeding support group hotline for some breastfeeding advice.  She had her 2 kids when she was 39 and 41 years old respectively.  Her kids were already 8 and 10 years old when I got to know her.

7. My sister-in-law's husband's sister had her first child when she was about 40 yrs old, after trying for many years.

So you get the picture?  Its definitely possible to get pregnant even in your 40s, if its meant to be.  And mind you, all these people I listed above are people I know or got to know personally.

Good Luck and Sticky Baby Dust to ALL who are TTC.

Jenny, take care and god bless.

I'm 42--had 1st child at 40 after trying for only 2 months.  We're currently trying to make a sibling with a bit less luck.  I've had 2 m/c's in the past year--not giving up though--ttc again at the beginning of the year.

I am 34 and had DD at 33 on 9/21.  That was after 2 miscariages (most recent in 2002) So it took me almost 5 more years to conceive.  I wasn't trying and DD was a BIG suprise.  Just when you give up hope like I did, it happens.

I'm 39 and just suffered a m/c yesterday evening.  My daughter will be turning 18 years old in February.  My husband and I are still looking forward to having another child so I'm still praying.  At first I thought about my age, but now, I figure, if the LORD will bless me with one, I'll surely be glad to have it! :)  My cousin gave birth to her first babies-twin boys-at age 50!!  They should be about 2 years of age now.

I was 36 yrs. and 3 months when I had Jonathan.  It took about 6 months.  No problems in the pregnancy, thank the Lord, even though I am high risk with Crohn's Disease.
I am pg again at 38, due about my 39th birthday, after trying for 10 cycles and taking Clomid to fix my post-ovulation progesterone levels.  However, my baby is growing slowly (6 1/2 wks along) and my HCG isn't doubling, so I may miscarry.
