How much Vitamin A is too much?

How much Vitamin A is too much?

Hi Everyone,
I posted this question earlier in an open thread, but noone seemed to answer.  So here it is again: I read on the prenatal vitamin that you should not take more than 10.000 IU of vitamin A while pregnant.  One small bag of baby carrot has about 260% of Vitamin A of the daily value.  Does this mean you should not be eating carrots or anything that has too much beta-carotin in it while pregnant?  And why is there a limit for vitamin A?  This question has been bugging me so much and I can't find the answer on the net.  Anyone knows about it?  Have a great weekend!

From what I have read and posted a few days ago, the big thing is to avoid ecess supplements and vitamin a found in topical creams.

What occurs naturally, like carrots and milk are okay and there isn't a big issue with that. I posted a link a few days back with some info on this very issue.

Too much vitamin A can cause bone deformities in the fetus and I believe an increased incedence of cleft palate.

It looks as though they are saying not to take vitamin A in excess of 3,000 micrograms / day.
